Hey Marie - I can take wild guess. They don't use the raised seal anymore.

More like a stamp.

The raised seal is from the old days. I know what you mean. A

certified copy of your birth certificate should be enough no matter how the

seals shows up.

I don't ever see any raised seals in my job and have not for a long time.

Just on the ancient documents!

OKAY! OKAY! I DIDN'T MEAN ANYONE IS ANCIENT!

IF I COULD FIND MY ORIGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE I AM SURE IT WOULD BE A

RAISED SEAL, TOO, CATHERINE. I CAN KEEP YOU COMPANY!

I WOULD GUESS THE OFFICES THAT KEEP THE VITAL STATISTICS CHANGED TO A

STAMP SEAL AND THE PRESSED SEALS (RAISED) BECAME OBSOLETE. THE RAISED

SEALS CAME FROM PUTTING THE PAPER (CERTIFICATE) BETWEEN A DEVICE (USED FOR

LACK OF BETTER WORD) YOU WOULD SQUEEZE THE DEVISE - HENCE IT RAISED THE

PAPER. THEN ALONG CAME TECHNOLOGY TO MAKE LIFE EASIER WITH JUST " STAMPING "

IT.

USING THE WORD OBSOLETE - DOES THAT MAKE YOU FEEL ANY YOUNGER?

HOPEFULLY,

JANE
