Janice,

I think you meant to say RNY instead of DS. In the RNY the pyloric

valve remains on the part of the stomach that is not used. In the DS

the pyloric valve remains intact and fully functional. A portion of

the stomach is removed. The fully functional pyloric valve is one of

the major advantages the DS has over the RNY and allows DS'ers to eat

normally without worry of dumping or blockage.
