The virus would come in an email attachment. It has to be an executable

file. Since you are not downloading the individual posts or digests, but

reading them on the web, no, this does not expose you to viruses, per

se. You do have cookies and certificates that can be read by the sites

you visit, and they may spam you or send you some infected email, but

again, you would have to download something. If you use OE, you are

particularly vulnerable, I hate to say. Netscape, as I use, is not as

vulnerable and to me, a better reader and facility, but it can be

complex.

Just in case though, sweetie, do you have a good virus scanner on your

computer? If not, you should get one right away! The best ones are

purchased in the store, but you can also get a good one either

temporarily or permanently, free or otherwise, at http://www.tucows.com
