Guest guest
Late reply to your question, , but better late than never! Storybook Glen is a must for the kids if you're staying near Aberdeen. It's a large, landscaped area with river, ponds, trees etc, and hundreds of enormous models sculpted out of concrete and painted to resemble various fairy-tale characters eg Cinderella & her pumpkin carriage, the 3 bears & big bad wolf, & also popular tv characters like the tank engine, Fireman Sam & his fire engine (which you can get in - if you're a kid!), Noddy cars, Wallace & Gromit, teletubbies, the list goes on and on. Now you might think this sounds naff and grotty, but it's very well laid out with other themes like trolls and elfs and things and the kids just think it's magical. There are also lots of playground equipment features dotted around so the kids can vent their energy every so often. There's an absolutely fantastic " bumpy " slide built onto the side of a hill which really was a hit with my two. There's a small farm area with a vietnamese pot belly pig, goats, chickens, geese etc for the kids to ooh and aah at. It's definitely a good trip out on a nice, sunny day - not something you can depend on in the northeast of Scotland! It took us a good 2 hrs to go round it this time, probably longer last year when it was new to us. Lesley - you live reasonably near it, you must have been there. Can you add anything to my description, or do you hate it?? It's located near the South Deeside Road (B9077?) out of Aberdeen and well signposted once you're on this or the Banchory road. If you contact the Aberdeen Tourist Information Office, I'm sure they'd send you a flyer for the place. I'm getting my holiday snaps this pm, so may try uploading one or two relevant ones to shared files or photopoint.com. wrote: > Glad to hear that you had a nice time, apart from the vampire visit to your > ankle!!!
