SIL and NOT nursing her baby

I have been pretty quiet lately on all of my list but I have just got to

post about this because it bothers me soooo much.

My sister in law, who is a nurse, just had a baby girl. She was wishy

washy her whole pregnancy whether or not she was going to nurse and for

how long.

Now she is nursing but is only going to do so for 2 weeks (to get her

figure back and so the baby can get the colostrum) and then she is going

to wean. She says that the baby (my Godchild) just loves to nurse...but

she is still weaning her at 2 weeks.

She has been supplementing with formula since she was born in hopes that

she would not get too attached to the boob! But she is attached. She

doesn't even want the bottle. Of course not!

You know, I just don't get her. The reasons she gives for not wanting

to nurse are that she doesn't want to have to watch what she eats and

she doesn't want to be tied down to the baby and she wants to sleep all

night. I don't know, that seems kind of a little bit (a lot) selfish to

me.

It is very hard to hold my toungue around her but she is dead set

against weaning. My opinion is that it is worse to start off a baby to

nurse only to pull it away 2 weeks later. I think it is mean. But I

guess if the mother is not comfortable with it she shouldn't do it

right?

Is there anything else I could possibly tell her to keep her from

weaning?
