Guest guest
, What a wonderful message. I think we all need to remember your words when we are down about the condition of our skin. Like you, I have seen a dramatic change in my skin within a short period of time. But you are right that there are more important aspects of life, like family, friends, activities we enjoy. We need to keep it all in perspective. a Tanning Bed a word of warning, Zyrtec >Hi !!! > >Just a quick one or maybe a long one, we shall see. Has anyone tried >zyrtec or a similar antihistamine? If so, have you noticed a difference? > >I am new to this group, calling from a not so pleasant Canberra, >Australia. > >My cea started, I believe after 8 visits to a Tanning bed some >two years ago. My father and grandfather both were inflicted with the >disease, other members of the family have no sign. > >I am 37, and two years ago my face did not have a mark on it . I had a >very dark complexion, (God only knows why I went there when I already >had a tan) I developed problems immediately after 6-8 visits to the >tanning bed. My skin became very flaky and marked. It wasn,t till on >holiday 6 months later in Thailand that I noticed my face no longer >tanned, It was of a pink colour with broken capilaries. > >I believe my cea may have been self-inflicted or greatly >accelerated due to the UV light and heat from the Tanning bed. > >Has anyone experienced a similar problem?? > >I greatly feel for all of you in the support group. My condition is >not as bad as most of you. I have yet to experience that " burning >feeling " and really bad acne. > >When I look in the mirror and view pictures of myself two years ago, I >can see a change in my appearance yet the person on the inside is still >the >same. I often wonder how I would feel if I was in a relationship, >would I be as self consenus? would I rush to the mirror in the morning >to see if there had been any improvement.? What do you think? > >cea is not about " Vanity " it is a real disease that has profound >effects on us emotionally and physically. I ask us all to try and come >to terms with what we are facing, it is a struggle, yet we can overcome >this disease if we believe in ourselves. > >We are so lucky that today we have people like Dr Nase! >prepared to devote their time and energy to find a cure for our >disease. Think of how we would have felt 40 -100 years ago. There was >no Noritate or Photoderm and Dermatitis was not treated. If we hang in >there, scince will be our saviour!!!!!! but we have to be patient and >think of the wonderfull magic potions just around the corner. > >I have just started my treatment. I am positive about the outcome >and will do my best in halting its progress. I head back to Thailand >in two weeks I hope to visit the children and adults I taught four >years ago. (I will not travel without my Sunscreen -sun safe 30 + and >my daggy but effective Aussie hat.) > >If anything, my trip will be a stark reminder of how lucky I am, >I have beautiful home, wonderful job and great friends. There is not a >day I do not go hungry. I am learning to be thankful for >the otherwise good health I have. > >Lets put smiles on the faces of those you love us. Lets be positive and >dream our days away and remember when you look in the mirror again and >again >and again (like I do) The relection you see is truly of someone >remarkable. > >Take care > >Loads of love to all of you. > > > > > > > >------------------------------------------------------------------------ > >eGroups.com home: /group/rosacea-support > - Simplifying group communications > > > > >
