Guest guest
I am only posting this so that if anyone reads it and they want to try this, they can. It may or may not be for you at all. I am a firm believer that we are all individuals and need to do whatever we need to do to best suit our own bodies and doctor treatments. I saw a naturopathic doctor today for my RA diagnosis. We talked for 45 minutes. Bottom line - he believes that my RA came on because my body is so toxic from long term untreated constipation. He thinks that with the right treatment, I can become balanced again and hopefully the arthritis will disappear. I do know that since I've been doing a colon cleanse my hands hurt far far less than they did before. And, I'm off the prednisone now too! I was taking 20 mg a day just to be able to function and sleep. So - Don't rule out alternative medicines. But, if you are having good progress now with your treatment, stick with it!! I just wanted to share so maybe someone would be encouraged. Thanks, Kath
Guest guest
Kathy, So happy for your progress and news. I also believe that many auto-immune diseases are directly related to our intestines and have received help from alternative docs and naturopaths, too. Guest guest
Wow, you got that kind of attitude from a naturopath??? Incredible. I'd say he's behind the times! He's not worth the time, effort, or money! Unfortunately, there are a few out there, so we even have to weed out the bad ones in the natural medicine field. It's rare, but it does happen. Hopefully you can find someone to work with that is close, not too expensive and can make a difference for you through proper testing and treatment. One thing I want to caution over and over again on our group. Healing takes time! I got frustrated even with some natural minded doctors I went to early in my treatment, because I was still under the mindset that we've been accustomed to with the MD's: that we can go to them and they will make us better with their magic and it won't take too long to see results. It doesn't happen that way with ND's. We spend the money on our appt's, we buy the supplements, we do the therapies, and we don't see results right away. We may get impatient, or feel that we blew money on wasteless consultations. (I've felt that way.) But hold on, because it will take time, effort and tenacity to get through this thing. I got to the point where I just everything from home, including the testing. I haven't been to a doctor in ages. I do the coffee enemas, the liver flushes, the ionic foot baths, the fasting, the Master Cleansing, parasite cleansing, eating right (now that's the hardest part, especially at holidays), and it doesn't cost me more than a few dollars. Eating right and avoidng gluten, sugar, flours, processed oils and junk foods (and dairy for some of us) is 90% of the battle. Best wishes on your treatment! Guest guest
Well I definitely ordered the canary test because the hormone testing with the naturopath would be almost $300 but his assistant said that they would accept the results from the canary test. He may want to do a hair analysis but I'm not sure. I'm glad to hear that your hair has stopped falling out! That gives me hope too. I can't believe that it's already been a month. I was feeling ok but today I'm tired and my right eyelid is still swollen for some reason...not sure why. I really can't wait for the phone consult on Wed. I am so ready to start feeling better, and I still can't sleep a full 8 hrs at night. I am so tired. Hopefully this naturopath is the answer that I need to get me on the right track. Right now I'm at work trying to play catch up! > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see if my > > test > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the fact that > > my > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his whole > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Hi Krista, I sent an e mail to the receptionist for the dr that I was going to do the phone consult with on Wed. She said that I had to use their supplements or I couldn't do the program! Then she told me that every month I would have to buy at 5 different supplements and keep rotating them. Now I'm thinking I made the wrong decision. I don't think they should tell you that you have to use their supplements. What a rip off! > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see if my > > test > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the fact that > > my > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his whole > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Hi Rogene, I just found out that with this new dr I can only use the supplements that they prescribe, or I can't do the program. I really didn't like that idea at all! Every month it's about 5 or 6 different supplements. I don't think that's right at all. Guest guest
Steph, I don't know personally about rotating because I haven't done it, but on www.curezone.com, people talk about the effectiveness of rotating antifungals. Apparently its benefit is that rotating eliminates the possibility of resistance of the yeast. Does your naturopath have a website? I'd be curious to look at it. There is a doc in Seattle that also specializes in fungal and yeast infections. He too believes in rotating antifungals. I was thinking about going to him til I found that he prefers to use prescription medications. In my experience, almost every naturopath expects you to use their supplements. Guest guest
Steph- I wouldn't get discouraged just yet. I'm sure that most of the naturopathic doctors expect you to use their products. I was just saying that if they recommend you need more vitamins and minerals and those types of supplements that you didn't have to buy theirs, you could get those types of things online. If you feel good about this guy, then I would follow through. Did the receptionist give you an average cost of supplements per month? A took a quick look at this website, the only thing that bothered me is that he is a nutritionist, not a ND. How much is he charging you again? ~Krista > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see if my > > > test > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the fact > that > > > my > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his > whole > > > > > attitude. Guest guest
The initial consult is $240. The receptionist told me that with the fee for the consult, supplements, and testing it'll be between $500- $600 for Wed and then supplements and testing every month is between $200-$300. I don't know what to do now. I'll forward you the e mail his receptionist sent me. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see if my > > > > test > > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the fact > > that > > > > my > > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his > > whole > > > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Here's part of the e mail she sent me: Testing is done periodically to make sure your ready to go onto the next phase. We also provide testing in between for leaky gut syndrome, hormones imbalances, toxic metals, thyroid deficiency and other factors, which can cause your body not to respond to the Candida program. Some tests are taken at certain phases of the program. A genetic test is also done to determine if you have a " genetic tendency " towards Candida. The initial appointment is $240. The second appointment when we go over your test results is $180. Follow up appointments are anywhere from $80-$180 depending on what is being gone over at that appointment. Supplements and testing can be anywhere from $100 to $350 every 4 to 6 weeks. This is just an estimate it could be more depending on your situation and how many things are involved. The programs are individualized to fit your health needs. The program is monitored every 4 to 6 weeks. Testing is done periodically to insure that you are ready to move to the next phase and that your program is working correctly. Guest guest
Augh....I don't know Steph. I'm curious to know what PH and the rest of the group think. I'm new at all of this too, so hard to give you advice. It seems like a lot of money to me, but I know that everyone will say that you can't put a price on your health. I just wish that you could get the treatments and supplements you need to get better at a more reasonable price. But, I guess I don't know if that's reasonable or not, since I haven't gone through it. Why don't you wait and see what the rest of the group has to say. That sounds good that they do all of that testing and know that there might be other factors going on that might keep your body from responding...how do they do the testing since they are in NY? Did she say you'll have to pay for those out of pocket too? Have you looked into any other naturopaths that are actually close to home? ~Krista > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see > if my > > > > > test > > > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the > fact > > > that > > > > > my > > > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his > > > whole > > > > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Plus, Here's the icing that tops the cake. My first naturopath called me to apologize because he could tell I was upset. He said that he should've been more sensitive to what I was saying. He said that he felt awful about how he reacted. Now I really don't know what to do! How confusing! If you're interested here's his website: http://www.byregion.net/cgibin/users/profiles.pl?username=johnstraus If you look under his specialties you can see why I chose him. Guest guest
I knew that guy was going to eat his words...I just didn't know it was going to come this soon! Looks like he specializes in everything that you're going through, so that's good, and your insurance covers the visits which is another plus. It's up to you, Steph. Did he say anything about the implants when he called you, or did he just apologize for how he reacted? I guess you don't necessarily need for him to believe in implant illness for him to treat your problems, but if you want someone who DOES believe in implant illness, then I wouldn't go back to him. It's all up to you personally and what you need out of your doctor. Guest guest
They mail you the kits and you mail it back. The tests are all separate charges. It does seem really expensive to me. If you look at the other website I sent you, that dr actually does the same testing. Guest guest
Hi Steph, I took a brief look at the site and I have to say I am impressed. Yes, it's expensive but I haven't found a doc who's not. I like the fact he talked about metabolic typing, which Mercola also empahsizes as playing a huge role in health. Mercola does the same tests as well and I like the fact this guy tests throughout the program to make sure you're improving. He mentioned the bovine glandular extracts which two of my NDs who I thought seemed knowledgable recommended here. I think the rotation is a good idea. Some people become intolerant to even their supplements (I did to B vitamins) and the rotation prevents this. I like the fact he emphasizes nutrition and ph level. PH level is so important in reducing disease and preventing pathogens from taking over. I was surprised that he recommends not taking B-complex because every doc has told me I need to do that because candida causes B deficiencies. This guy may be right though because B vitamins are high in yeast...I just make sure mine say they are yeast-free. To me it sounds like a very comprehensive program...I can't think of anything he's leaving out. Makes me wish I had come across his website in the beginning. I just read your post about the first doc apologizing...I don't know. It's a tough call. I like being face to face w/ my doc rather than just phone consults, but the second guy seems so thorough! Good luck w/ your decision...I know it's hard. I've been through probably 20 docs, but none of them seemed to know enough about candida. Love, PH > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see > if > > my > > > > > test > > > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the > fact > > > that > > > > > my > > > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his > > > whole > > > > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Steph, I think it sounds pretty pricey for somebody you will never see, just my personal opinion. But, I don't have that type of money to fork out either. You'd think they could recommend certain supplements and let them buy them on your own. Another - BUT, I haven't been to a natropath yet. Guest guest
Most, if not all, of the naturopaths that practice telephonic medicine have their own brands . . . These supplements are generally produced by manufacturers who make other supplements. They "tailor-make" supplements for some doctors, re-label other brands for others. As I see it, what you get by using a naturopath is personal guidance, reinforced by testing. . . Can you get better creating your own program with information you have here? Most definitely YES! And for a lot less money! . . . However, if one is the type who is more comfortable with personal guidance, it can be well worth the extra money. Personally, I wouldn't be comfortable with someone who told me I "must" take their supplement - then estimates the cost may run as much as $350 - or more - a month.Rogene
Guest guest
I like to differentiate between antifungals and probiotics. As I see it, they are two distinctly different things . . .Antifungals are designed to get rid of fungus. Probiotics are to reestablish a healthy environment in your body. Fungus can become resistant to prescription antifungals. . . However, I haven't heard of fungus becoming resistant to natural products. . . There are likely some organisms that some natural products don't touch - so using a variety of antifungals would seem to be beneficial . . . If you mess up between treating with antifungals, you may want to try a different one the next time - if you don't see the results you expect. . Some antifungals we don't talk about a lot are grapefruit seed extract, oil of oregano, olive leaf extract and garlic . . . However, after treating with a good antifungal like Fungal Defense, or Caprylic Acid, the next step should be building up the healthy organisms. The goal is for them to colonize in your body and, eventually, to keep fungus under control. The greater variety of organisms, the better - at least that's the way I see it. You are not going to build up a" resistance" to probiotic organisms. There are some organisms that our bodies usually have that cannot be replace once they are killed off. . . The question is if you can build up enough healthy organisms to make up the difference, or if you'll have to supplement with probiotics the rest of your life. . . Based on my experience, and what I'm seeing . . . I think it's going to be a life-long effort.Hugs,Rogene Re: Naturopath Yes it's http://www.health- truth.com/ Take a look at his 4 step program and let me know what you think. > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see if > my > > > > test > > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the fact > > that > > > > my > > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed his > > whole > > > > > > attitude. Guest guest
Steph, Wow, you struck out again! This is not right. I would never go to a doctor that only wanted to push supplements. That just isn't what healing is about. I'd find someone else. Have you tried any of our links for finding alternative practitioners? Look in our links section. There are several websites where you can plug in your zip code or state and find doctors who treat with natural medicine in your area. Guest guest
I agree Stephie . . . When you can find an M.D. who is also a naturopath, you may have the best of both worlds. . . You may have to teach him something about implants though . . . Maybe he'd like to visit our group?Hugs,Rogene Re: Naturopath Looking at his specialties, I would think he would be a good doctor to see. Guest guest
Steph- If your interested...like Rogene said... The Maker's Diet might do just as much for you as a pricey program would. PH and I are going to start the diet together on January 1st. You are more then welcome to do it with us. This diet, along with anti-fungals, probiotics and your visits to the naturopath might be just what you and need....and much more affordable! Love, Krista > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Hi everyone, I talked to my naturopath yesterday to see > > if my > > > > > > test > > > > > > > > results were back and when I even mentioned to him the > > fact > > > > that > > > > > > my > > > > > > > > breast implants caused this he denied it and changed > his > > > > whole > > > > > > > > attitude.
