Guest guest
: You will love having a canine companion. I have a little Cavelier Spaniel named Chloe. This breed was bred for being a lap dog. My ex and I purchased her several yeard ago. She is so sweet. (Except for last night when she needed to go out at 2:00 in the AM.) But she does keep me physically active. She has a schedule that she must keep and it incudes going out about three times a day and boy does she love to walk. So she has been good for me. On days when I've been down she seems to cheer me up and seems to know when I need cheering up. I would love to get a cat also but can't because of pet regulations in my apartment. By the way I have decided to move closer to my family and get me knees fixed. I feel like they were effecting my life, (not able to feel comfortable in some jobs). I have also been informed that I can get the apartment that I want. So God is blessing me. Good luck on your dog hunt. I wish I could come help. I love choosing a puppy. Guest guest
Pets can relly help to make you feel better. I have raised Boxers all my life and presently have 4 of them. Whenever I am down they seem to do some goffy thing that makes me laugh. My Boxers weigh between 48 - 70 pounds and no one ever told them they are not lap dogs. Boxers have a trait that they seem to want to make their people laugh and be happy. A day does not go by that at least 15 times one of them will do something goofy with a toy or with each other that makes you laugh. They have proven that petting a pet will help lower blood pressure. One thing I like about pets is they are always there for you when you need them. Rue ===== BOXER DOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL maryrue@... Guest guest
I have one big dog (Great Pyrenees) and three little dogs (2 Long Coated Chihuahuas and 1 Papillon) alll of which live in the house. My husband is gone for three weeks at a timewith work, we live in a high police call out area and have a psycho neighbour - big dog in house GOOD! The papillon was a rescue we fostered 7 years ago and kept, he's about 15-16 now. Of the two LC Chihuahua (which are not al all yappy like the short coats!) one is my husbands who dotes on him and the other is mine. She is barely 3 pounds, has epilepsy and survived a series of strokes a few years ago. There is nothing better than her when I am feeling down. All of the dogs are great for making sure I get out and at least go outside with them. And of course there is more exercise with poop-scoop duty for the yard! lol A lilttle lap dog is one of the best things in life - they reciprocate 10 times the love they get, just have to remember they are more fagile than bigger dogs. Guest guest
> I have one big dog (Great Pyrenees) I have had three St Bernards through the years, one rough coat and two smooth coats. I love the big dogs, but they don't handle the heat here in AZ very well. Only drawback is the short life span compared to the smaller breeds. Right now I have an old (12) Akita/German Shepherd cross. My old Aussie died last winter at 13. I am looking for another dog, as Cody is lonely without his companion. I have one indoor cat and have adopted a stray outdoor cat. I live trapped her and had her spayed and released her. She is very wild, but lives happily in a corner of my yard fenced away from the dog. Cody isn't a lap dog, but I have a lap cat. My other animals aren't exactly lap-dog material, either. I have a belgian heavy draft mare and her half brother, a belgian/tb cross gelding. Sharon
Guest guest
We sure seem to be a 'doggy' group! We have 2 German Shepherds - Abu is 10 1/2 and Pep is 2. They are sweet and loving but certainly not lap dogs! I do miss the early puppy days when they were soft and would cuddle. My husband came as a package deal with a shepherd almost 18 years ago, and for the past 14 years we've had 2 most of the time. They really do well with having the companionship. Ours are outside during the day, and sleep indoors at night. Our son (who just turned 10 today) is a big help with feeding them and playing with them on a daily basis. - I hope you find the right dog soon! Guest guest
hey, Sharon! we had to put our boxer down a year ago. we now have two indoor cats, and the neutered male is my lover-boy. yes, a lap cat; a chest cat, a wrapper-around-my- head- as I sleep- cat, and also, an ear-sucker.....his mother cat was hit by a car when the litter was 3 weeks old, so the local humane society tells me that I am his surrogate mom; he only trys to do this just before he falls asleep! gentle hugs, Marcia Sharon Wertz <sbwertz@...> wrote: > I have one big dog (Great Pyrenees) I have had three St Bernards through the years, one rough coat and two smooth coats. Guest guest
Boxers are so cool! I love the tight, muscled look of them. And I have never known a mean boxer. Guest guest
This is sort of on topic for this discussion. I was looking for something on line this morning about brindles (My pup is a brindle) and I found this website http://www.burnerkitty.com/ that let's you do a free web page for your pets. I am doing one for my dog and one for my cat. Looking forward to seeing it as soon as it is approved and I get the pics uploaded to them. Guess then I have to add that site to my sig card, LOL. Guest guest
Marcia, I have a loverboy cat, too. I saved him after he was thrown out in a parking lot and his eyes were not even open. I used a bottle to feed him and I guess he really believes I am his Mom. My husband could not believe that he survived cause he was SO young. He cuddles and loves me and burrows in by my neck to purr in my ear and sleep with me. He even reaches his paw across my neck as if hugging me. He is a gray tabby and good hunter, too. He is all grown up now but still loves me a lot.
