I'm not a radiation expert, but it sounds extremely unlikely to me to be radiation sickness. The dose that you got from brachytherapy should have been relatively small and highly localized in a spot that would not affect the stomach, intestines, bone marrow, immune system, or other key structures that would be involved in radiation sickness. I suspect you've got something else. Alan
Guest guest
I did not have brachytherapy but did have 44 photon treatments, and I sure have the symptoms. I fall asleep in the middle of the afternoon each day, and I never did this before IGRT. I was told to expect it during treatment, but I'm nearly two months out from treatment. Guest guest
Individual responses to external radiation can be very variable. Many do experience varying degrees of lethargy. My own Onco/Radiologist told me to be ready for considerable tiredness towards the end of TX. As it happened, for me, it wasn't anywhere near as draining as expected. That said I had thought I was back to normal levels of energy within a month. However, in retrospect, this was definitely not true; I took about 10 months to be actually back to normal. I run a property letting business and last summer I had to do quite a lot of readying the property hands on myself, at times last summer (6 months after IGRT) I was absolutely exhausted, and fit to drop, by tasks I would have found a breeze the previous season. At 49 last summer I don't think that was down to age just yet!
