Guest guest
, We have a gas fireplace. I enjoy it very much. I don't turn it off and on (wish we had a remote) I keep my distance. Just be smart and enjoy! Hugs, Joyce D.PULMONARY FIBROSIS/LUPUS 1997 BRONCHIECTASIS 2004 INDIANA 2 COR. 12:10 ....when I am weak, then I am strong.> > > That was me--Peggy. Guest guest
, We use our gas fireplace several times a week. My dad is addicted to the thing. Ours is behind glass (sounds like yours is too) and also has a pilot light. Since the flames are behind a glass wall, I don't really worry about it. A wood burning fireplace would be a problem but I don't see an issue with a contained gas fireplace. Yesterday my mom and I went furniture shopping and ordered a dining room table and chairs and a new sofa table. They'll be delivered a week from tomorrow. We've got a new baby coming too, my sister's having another in June and it's fun!! I can't wait to see pictures of your new house!! Guest guest
Biggest risks are obviously cigarettes, but candles somehow tipping is a risk. A log fire would be a huge one because we've all seen sparks jump out at times. I would certainly not personally cook on a gas stove. Weather I would use a gas fireplace or not depends. If the fireplace is well sealed with a glass and you're maintaining a distance, I'm probably not that uncomfortable. They tell us that we should notify the fire department when we get oxygen that our home has oxygen in it. I haven't. Maybe others have done better than me. However, I do intend to call to see if they have a system for using that information as it could protect fighters or other neighbors for them to know. I figure, other than my clothes, the areas most saturated are the carpet, my sofa and my bed. I do have a smoke alarm but all it would do is possibly allow me to get out. I do have fire extinguishers (note I said plural as you need them throughout and there are now ones for all different areas) and would encourage everyone to have several. You're obviously not going to stop a fire. However, that one harmless spark you would otherwise ignore you might we wise to " overreact " to it and avoid a disaster. Or even on an electric stove, what if something got on the burner or under it and you see a little flare up. Might be time to pull it out and use it for safety. > > My dearest gas loving friends.
