Guest guest
Its been my contention that there are two major ways progress might come about. One is, of course, finding treatments. However, the other is both in getting better at transplants and finding better post-transplant solutions. I've thought this might be the one more likely to at least benefit in my lifetime. As to the transplant itself, its simply a matter of doing more. If there were more lungs, I think the success rates would already be much higher. Across the nation, my research has clearly shown that you take two otherwise equal hospitals and the one that does the most transplants is significantly more successful in survival rates. As to post transplant, I've just thought that better anti-rejection drugs would be found. Prednisone in particular has been a pre and post transplant drug for so long. It's just time there was a better choice. Now, we read here and find that the method itself might reduce the need of the drugs.
