Guest guest
Tina... I'm doing really well w/pcp, and Pain DR. It's only the pulmonologists I seem to have trouble with. I'm in a waiting pattern now. Feb isn't far off and I am anxious to go. Especially in light of what this last Dr said to me. Now get THIS: he now says (in notes I had to call twice for) because of my remaining stable "It is my feeling that this represents old burnt out interstitial lung disease, not IPF" and in another note, "Atypical Asthma". I'm confused and want clarity at this point. What do I have??? Hopefully, OHSU will have some definitive answers for me. You take care too. Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Sher How terribly frustrating it is to find out you didn't know everything you should have known! Sometimes I just despise doctors. My family doctor treated me for 20 years. He's known me through the birth of all of my children and even delivered one of them. He is a wonderful man, and always treated me well....so I thought! I still believe he actually is a nice person, but his physician skills are lacking something! One visit to a new family doctor when I moved and SHAZAM! I knew what had been ailing me for years wasn't recurrent bouts of pneumonia, and it wasn't asthma, alleregies or any of the other numerous things my long-time doctor had treated me for. I was under a health insurance plan which required a referral to see a specialist and even when I requested a referral from my long-time family doctor, he disregarded my request and said "let's wait and see if you get better." The problem was, I would get better. At least with the pneumonia. Like I said, it wasn't until a new physician saw me and I was very forth-right with my attitude that I would not want long term looking after, but rather, real answers. My new family doctor just opened her first practice in 2006. So when I say she was new, I mean very new, and very young. What that did for me was give me a chance to be seen by new, more aggressive, eyes. She sent me to a specialist from day one! She agreed that she did not like the idea of recurrent pneumonia, etc., with little relief. She did not like what she saw on the x-rays and she did not like what she heard when she listened to my breathing, not to mention my 02 was less than 80 the first time in her office! So, to sum it up, definitely find a doctor whom gives you the time and attention your illness needs! I know I am lucky to have my family doctor, even though the outcome may have been different had I had a different one a long, long time ago. Take care and God Bless!TinaIPF 04/07 PH 11/07 Ohio
Guest guest
Leanne... thanks for asking. I've been lurking more than posting. My sadness level is saturated and over-flowing. I know everyone else feels the same way of course. However Mama-Sher is emotionally wrung out. Card in the mail to Joyce...my prayers continue for her and Gwynnie and Peggy and Irene and Bruce, I hope you're doing ok on the "P". I pray for us all. I could type in every name, please don't feel slighted if I don't mention you personally. "They also serve who only stand and wait"...and pray. I'm around. The best I can contribute now is, "Damnit, DAMNIT" Love ya all. Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Guest guest
No issues with the Prednisone....small dosages and short time....tomorrow is last day but dosages dropped each day so virtually none now. And, i didn't develop the cravings...in fact, have had less chocoate this week than most i bet. I thought too much about the large dosages and long term use and just didn't recognize the difference that I wasn't going to take that much of for that long. Again, was able to come here and talk to people about it and understand that better. I know there will be times in the future I'll need it to knock something out. Just like Caro is taking it now. She's got a critical short term need to be sure she gets rid of the pneumonia. > > > > Leanne... thanks for asking.
