Peggy, when we travel my cpap is the first thing packed. It looks like hell but I do sleep better with it....and quieter. I snore like a moose. Isn't that awful for a woman to snore like that? lol

I've had sleep issues for over twenty years, but I can't imagine anyone here who wouldn't have some. We're all dealing with a lot. Our minds don't shut down that easily. Brud... I do have a humidifier on my cpap but it's turned to 1. I can't tolerate warmer air. In the summer I use no water at all.

I am so heat intolerant. It can be 30 degrees outside and I have to have a window at least cracked and most often the ceiling fan on as well. Another reason my hubby had to finally give in and move to the other bedroom. The snoring and the freezing were too much!

Re: Re: Bruce

I've been wearing CPAP for OSA (obstructive sleep apnea) for about 5 years now.In most folks with OSA, the snoring is caused by the collapsing airway...now thatI use CPAP, I can't even nap without it...and the minute I put it on I'm 'out like a light'.Things I've learned along the way:-->Anyone with a 17 inch neck, or larger, probably has OSA.-->All people with sleep apnea snore; all snorers do not have sleep apnea.-->Most folks find CPAP machines with humidity more comfortable. brud+-- God is good; everything else is a lesson.

Well mine is interesting and still waiting to see final study and

review with new pulmonologist.

I either do or don't have obstructive issues, but when I hit REM I

snore like the devil and my oxygen drops. When on BiPap it was fine.

Now, if you'd told me the neck thing.....17 1/2.

I do have heated humidity.

The question was and is do I need CPAP or Oxygen or both. Right now

the report is CPAP instead of Oxygen. But, I quite imagine a better

sleep study is coming. My previous ones have been better than this

one and my ex-wife's was also. They were taking a new approach and it

leaves many unanswered issues. I haven't see the actual report from

the study, but with the time so limited, don't know what I'll know

when I do. Meanwhile, will use CPAP until new pulmonologist decides

on next step.

Well, there is no question my oxygen was shown to drop earlier below

90% for 25% of the time. However, it appears to be happening during

that 25% of the time in which I'm in REM and obstructed and, based on

the tests, once on a BiPap (used during test) my oxygen was fine.

Understand I was only on 2 liters of oxygen for sleep so the feeling

is that 11 liters of airflow would cover it.

However, I am going to request an overnight oxygen study on the CPAP

to be safe and will probably have another night of sleep study to

settle titration. But, all will await February Pulmonology

appointment.

Bruce,

A map! What a great idea! The Pacific NW can be beautiful in the

summer/fall, right Sher? Washington is smokeless except for Native

American casinos. I don't know about OR but I bet they are

smokeless, too?
