Guest guest
Hi , First you really need to call your Dr. A head cold for us is very dangerous. The mucus can get into our lungs so it must be stopped in it's tracks. Call and ask for Levaquin I think is the right spelling. It is a very strong antibiotic. You can also have your 02 Co\bring a mask so you can get 02 into your lungs. Just call your Dr. right away. Love and Prayers, Peggyipf 6/04Worry looks around.Sorry looks back,Faith looks up. Guest guest
Hi , Sorry you are sick. I have had plenty of "stuffed-up" head colds. I have taken avelox, zpacks, levaquin, augmentin, etc. All of them help. But the most important things that I have to do: (1) Neubulize to keep it out of the chest (2) I take a combination decongestant, antihistamine, cough medicine (seems to be better for me than Mucinex-D or plain Mucinex) (3) Stay out of crowds (4) I am taking a prescription with guifenessen in it and something else. (5) Ocean Nose Spray (5) Sniff salt water (warm) up your nose to clean it out (6) Call your doctor back if you don't get well Toodles! Guest guest
As i read your question it was that the congestion just prevents the level of oxygen to get through. Obviously, you're doing what you can to clear the congestion. Now, sometimes it may just mean turning the oxygen up a level. But what I still found with the wrong cannulas was that it would just hit all the congestion and cause me a horrible sinus pain and headache. Thats when different cannulas might help. Cut off a bit of yours so it doesn't hit with the same impact or get wider cannulas. Its a matter of experimentation. But, I can definitely see differences in sats based on my level of congestion (have hay fever and allergies and have been congested entire life). So, I find sometimes it affects the oxygen flow I need. > > > > Greetings from sunny Florida. > > I have been " wiped out " by a head cold. > > It is better today after a week but I never expected to be so > > debilitated. > > Started Avalox immediately to keep away infection. > > I am sure many of us go through this every year. > > I can't breathe in my O2 because of the head congestion and my sat > > rates are not good although they seldom are anyway.Gotta keep a sense > > of humour about this. > > I am sooooo tired. > > Have not seen this mentioned on the list. Guest guest
One more possibility for some relief. There is a a cannula called an oxyarm. It doesn't actually go into your nose but blows just outside and allows you to get oxygen through both your nose and mouth. A mask would do somewhat the same but less comfortable. I have tried this device and it works surprisingly well, when just around the house. Now, I would not suggest it probably at night as I see it getting dislodged. http://www.tri-medinc.com/TM/page8.html#19136 > > > > > > Greetings from sunny Florida. > > > I have been " wiped out " by a head cold. > > > It is better today after a week but I never expected to be so > > > debilitated. > > > Started Avalox immediately to keep away infection. > > > I am sure many of us go through this every year. > > > I can't breathe in my O2 because of the head congestion and my sat > > > rates are not good although they seldom are anyway.Gotta keep a > sense > > > of humour about this. > > > I am sooooo tired. > > > Have not seen this mentioned on the list. Guest guest
, Nice hearing from you, but sorry that you are sick. Have you tried a mask. At least you could breathe through your mouth.
