Has anyone had the Aureon Prostate PX test done on biopsy samples? My husband

just got his results and we are a little confused as to the PSA Recurrence

Result as opposed to the Clinical Failure Result.

Does anyone know the difference in layman's terms?

Thanks!

Rose,

I have not had the Aureon Test done, but I

am aware that some doubt has been cast by commentators on the value of this

test - there are no published, PROSPECTIVE data that substantiate the claims

made for it. One of the men on the Yana site –

Winkler at http://www.yananow.net/Mentors/W.htm

- had the test and you may like to mail him with any queries.

All the best

Terry Herbert

I have no medical

qualifications but I was diagnosed in ‘96: and have learned a bit since

then.

My sites are at www.yananow.net and www.prostatecancerwatchfulwaiting.co.za

I cannot answer Rosina’s question.

Having never heard of Aureon in the seven years since my dx, I

made a quick check of their website.

I was struck by this claim: “....Prostate Px is 233% more

accurate than Gleason score at identifying patients with

life-threatening, high-risk cancer.” My quick look did not result

in anything that amounts to supporting evidence -- but I could be

wrong.

I have learned that the Gleason Score (two grades added) is the

only accepted measurement of the aggressiveness of a PCa lesion.

Aureon uses biopsy specimens. So do the more established labs

such as

Bostwick Laboratories

Dianon Laboratories

Jon Epstein (Hopkins)

Grignon

Lucia

Jon Oppenheimer

UroCor, Inc.

Some of which will do further testing such as DNA ploidy.

Sorry I’m unable to interpret the Aureon reports. Perhaps they

would respond to requests for assistance.

Good hunting.

Regards,

Steve J
