Guest guest
Good for you!!! The more the word goes out, the sooner we can get these insurance companies to bend. It may not be in time for our little ones, but maybe in will help someone else... Blessings, Pam
Guest guest
Cheryl, Hello and WELCOME! I'm a little late, but I haven't had much of a chance today. I'm so glad you decided to join us, and I'm excited that you are going to be seeing Dr. Ponseti. We didn't have Rose treated by Dr. Ponseti until she was six months, so don't worry about those six days. You should see her foot now!! It is beautiful. If you would like to read Rose's story it is at the link below my signature. I had my first ultrasound at 30 weeks, and her clubfoot was not seen. So we were quite surprised! I actually noticed it before the doctor or the nurses. Best wishes with the delivery and treatment, and don't fret about other things being wrong. When you see that baby and hold it in your arms, you'll wonder why you ever worried! Guest guest
Cheryl, That's crazy! Talk about exasperating!! Our family practice man shares our frustration. He is completely behind us and figures that doing things this way, when it is possible to do so, that is, not only saves the child the trauma of the surgery(ies), but thousands upon thousands of $$$ for the insurance companies. What we are doing is far more labor intensive on us, but if it works it's worth the cost. If it hadn't, it would have been worth the try. Unfortunately, until something is tried and true and accepted into the mainstream, it will be difficult to have insurance companies get behind it. Even then, as I read in one message on this board or another related one, I don't recall which, orthropedic surgeons make their money doing surgery, not alternative therapies...Sad, huh? Wish the medical establishment would open their collective eyes to the Ponseti and French physiotherapy methods and related others, like the program at ish Rite, and start putting the patients, not the almighty buck first. (Said with apologies to all of the wonderful doctors who already do, cause they are out there too, right?) Blessings, Pam
Guest guest
Hi Joy! Thank you for the reassuring words. You are right-I am now putting more emphasis on the birth of my baby instead of her diagnosis. I'm finally feeling a lot of excitement! I'm sure it is because I found this website and learned about the Ponseti Method-It has put my mind at ease. Any day now! God Bless! Cheryl Re: Good News > Cheryl, > > Hello and WELCOME! Guest guest
Hi Pam! Insurance companies are so confusing. My insurance told me that they subcontract orthopedic cases to one company. That company, however, does not have a pediatric orthopedist, so they subcontract to another company. So, if I want someone to pay for the Ponseti Method, I have to rally the company that my insurance subcontracts to. Pretty confusing huh? They suggested that I get a fee schedule from Ponseti, and talk to my baby's pediatrician to put in a good word for me. I wonder if any one else has run across this? Happy Easter! Guest guest
Stacie it is one of the lesser of two evils the way I lok at it. I am finally back down to every other day with 5mg. It is not that I do not like Prednisone myself, it is all the side affects that cause the problems. Maybe one person out of 100 can escape the side affects. I wish I was one but I am not. It does have a side affect of diabetes, but I am not sure if that is what caused mine or the fact my family history is full of it on both sides. You start out with so many pills on one day, then so many the next and then keep going down to the amount the doctor wants you on for a period of time. Later on he may add different meds to get the combinations to slow down the disease or to help get you into remission. I am finding stress is the worst culprit for this disease. I know what will ake to get me into remission and so far not much is co-operating. One is my SSD come through and the second getting rid of my biggest headache and stress, my hubby. Guest guest
Sharon, good for you, I love to wear jeans too, I am usually in jeans or at work in scrubs. But now with this Kay business I have to wear skirts, jacket and nylons with closed toe shoes, the only ones I had from working in an office a few years ago do not fit me now, so I found some on sale on got a couple, will have to do those for awhile. But I can’t wait to get home and get into my jeans, just love them too. I am so glad you are doing well; I think of all you often and pray your day is a good one. Guest guest
I have been celebrating a little to much and our Pony Wagon Days was this weekend, with a high school soccer game(football to those in Europe and Australia) I am now paying the price. I started paying the price last night and now today is the worst. Sharon RE: GOOD NEWS Sharon, that is awesome, good for you, and nice to know some good things still happen to good people.
