Guest guest
Tina WOW. Thank God for insurance - when it works, it works! You were actually prescribed Viagra? You have Pulmonary Hypertension? Jane is looking to go into a study with Viagra to treal just pulmonary fibrosis. From what I understand, the Viagra helps the pulmonary fibrosis as an added benefit. Let us know how it goes. LeanneTina wrote: Funny story. The Viagra that was prescribed for me cost about $1300 for a 90 days supply. The new px of Tracleer cost $3000 a month. Lol. My insurance company called me today to make sure I knew what the co-pay would be. I listened carefully, dreading to hear what they were going to say....it's $25! And, then the girl says, "Is that going to be a problem for you?" I inwardly chuckled and said, "No, I think I can handle that." Guest guest
I'm betting had the doctor followed up they would have given you Revatio/Viagra. Its just one they would always want to verify what its being prescribed for with the doctor. It's like Wellbutrin (anti- depressant) became at one time because so many using it to stop smoking. Of course at much higher price. > > > > > > Peggy...I picked up Rx a few days ago. One at $5 co-pay, the > > other was $80!!! no-pay...name brand. Guest guest
Tina Thanks for clearing this up. I hope so too. LeanneTina wrote: Leanne,Yes I was prescribed Viagra to treat PH, but my insurance did not want to pay for it! The pharmacist told me that it costs so much that ins. companies are now requiring authorization, etc. I was not able to obtain the authorization because the doctor from Cleve. Clinic didn't respond to my inquiry to do so! So, when I went to my new local pulmonologist, he said - "We'll change the prescription to Tracleer and see what they do." I received the call today that the Tracleer is on its way. It has to be mailed to each individual taking it. Very strict follow-up is necessary due to liver function. In any event, the insurance company would rather give me the extremely expensive medicine than pay for Viagra. Go figure? I hope the treatment of PH helps with the PF too. I hear it can.
