Guest guest
My daughter, , who's now 22, went to London when she was 15 with a school French Club group. It was a school sponsored " tour " and they visited many, many places. HOWEVER, the worst part of the trip for her was that her teacher took a group of them to a club in London. First of all, they were entirely too young for that exposure. But, they went at the insistance of the teacher because she was meeting a friend there. Anyway, my daughter got scared after being bothered by some men, unable to find the teacher, and she and another girl decided to go back to the hotel. But, they didn't know the name of the hotel, they didn't know the street the hotel was on and they could barely speak the language enough to ask for help. I received a long distance emergency phone call from her. She was frantic! She was screaming at me, " Mom, I am scared! I don't know what to do! We're lost! " I calmed her down enough to get the tour company on the telephone and directed her to find a police officer. The tour company which was also state side, was of little assistance, but I did get to express my concern and frustration at the group. made it back to the hotel with the assistance of a law enforcement officer, no harm done. Thank God! I did not let the matter go unnoticed either. Several of the young girls came home with tattoos, stories of drinking and clubs, and other unmentionables. My daughter came home with her tongue pierced! I was livid, but I was happy she was o.k. What a disappointment it was as a concerned and attentive parent to learn that my child was in the care of such people while out of this country. The travel was a wonderful learning experience for , but I doubt I will ever endorse the idea of it for any other children without the company of a RESPONSIBLE adult. Guest guest
Jane, While you are praying for to have a sense of direction, pray for me too. I lived in and around Nashville 4 years and could never drive there. My sense of direction is soooooo bad. Tell her that should be on her list of requirments for a husband. Someone will need to find thier way around! My daughter topped her list of requirements with "not a big head"...... for birthing reasons.
