Guest guest
Can you say Wal-Mart and K-Mart? Can you say Apria and Lincare? Nothing but commodity retailers dominating the field. And, I greatly fear as medicare implements their bidding system, Apria and Lincare will win all the contracts. Without medicare patients, I don't see how any other suppliers will survive. So, think its bad now? They also both continue to buy other companies and to buy contracts with insurers. Is there no one else you can go to? I'd at the very least call their corporate headquarters. Leanne might have better advice, but when pushed to the limit I often ask for the office of the President, in this case Lawrence A. Mastrovich. Generally there is someone there assigned significant power to work on customer service issues. Also, they make a point on their web site to never list any Corporate address or phone number, but I believe this is the number . If you try and it isn't I'll research further...lol And if three tanks is a problem for them in getting there in time, tell them to bring a fourth. I didn't realize fully how bad they were until I switched to someone else. They would greatly prefer COPD patients all on two liters of oxygen with concentrators, paying $500 to buy the concentrators and charging the insurer or medicare $100-175 per month. Requiring no service. Oh and maybe an E-Tank once a month or something. They don't like you on two accounts. First, at their branch office, you're not profitable like the others. Second, from the driver standpoint, you require more work. What an easy job to just periodically pick up some canisters from the front door and drop new ones. But he has to work for you, actually haul the reservoirs out and fill them. And, the audacity of more than one. When I was on concentrator and canisters, they complained I was using too many canisters. Well, I was getting out while I could. When I talked about travel. Oh yes, we can have what you need delivered anywhere. But what about if I needed a liquid reservoir in my car? Oh no, we only have one size 75 lb. Well, I now have 100 lb at home although my supplier is considering putting bigger and had 50 lb for travel. And, air travel. Oh we only have two portables in the region. Oh yes, and travel must be planned a month in advance. My current oxygen supplier before my trip when I was leaving around 11 on a Monday insisted on making a delivery Monday morning and were here at 9:30. They didn't want to deliver on Friday and any evaporate before I ever started. Apria would have said Thursday was my day, take it or leave it. We need Congress to pass our oxygen bill of rights. Fat chance of that. > > I just need to talk about Apria again! Is it ever going to end? Last week, they brought over three LOX tanks y'd together so that I could have 10L and so that they would not hve to make more than one trip a week for a refill. They had to come twice when I only had two and that made them mad. Anyway, it was last Thursday when they came, I was told they would be here this Thursday, early AM and I would still have oxygen. Well, beginning last night, I only had one bar on each tank. Before Tim went to work today, he filled the two portables, just in case, Apria people didnt come in time. Well.....they didnt. I ran out. I then hooked up the portables and called them. Was told I was on the schedule and they would come whenever they got here. Well, that was not good enough for my husband so he called the manager, who then called me and angrily told me he could not just change the drivrs schedule for me. Well, in an hour, the driver came, was very rude to me, told me I didnt need that much oxygen to begin with and I should turn it down, then I would be assured I wouldnt run out by next week. He told me " 10L is way too much and I am setting it to 6 " . I argued and he arbitrarirly set it to 18 and said " THERE " and walked out. I quickly changed it to 10 but it made me mad. I called the manager and was told that me and my husband were trouble makers for them and they are human and just get tired of us expecting things. I explained that all I wanted was to breathe and all they needed was to deliver on time. Well, we ended up on not so happy terms and he said they would be back next Thursday but not to expect it at the time I wanted but it would be at their time. So, it would be a good idea to fill the portables like I did before. And hung up. Do you know what size tanks you have? Sounds like the real thing you need to get by, not be happy with them, is either larger tanks or more. I show the smallest tank for which three would be adequate would be 110 pound tanks. Anything less, including 100 pounds you need 4 tanks. I show your absolute minimum to allow them to deliver anytime on Thursday to be 312 pounds and to allow for them having an issue and showing up a day late it would be 354 pounds. Thats at 10 liters. Now of course since he set it at 18 tell him you need 8 reservoirs. > Did I ever say I didnt like Apria? > L > NIPF 02 PH 06 Transtracheal 06 >

Guest guest
, that is just unacceptable from a professional company. Call your doctor and let them know how rudely you're being treated. And also, ask for a manager and let them know what the driver said and did. If the manager gets nasty with you, ask for HIS or HER supervisor and just keep going until you change their attitudes. Those sassholes!!!! oops, is that considered cussing?? Sorry!!! Hugs and hugs to you, and I'm sorry they treated you that way! If I could I would ponk someone in the nose for you! Your health is not something they can just discount and scoff at....write a letter, fax, email, do whatever it takes to make a higher-up resolve this problem. If I were a well person I would start a company that fights for the patients. Trust me, those Apria folks would be first on my list! Try to relax and not let them ruin your day. Big, big HUG! Guest guest
Wow - I would not stop there! This should and would get reported to higher authority! What a disgrace for anyone to treat you like that, let alone a company you rely upon to live! We should organize an alliance to change things like this. I hate to be the one to build the bridge, but someone has to do it! I will do whatever I can to help. I am ready to start a letter writing campaign. Anyone with me? Guest guest
, I hate Apria. It is the only provider that my insurance covers. They are horrid to deal with. I was getting by because I was dealing with the manager by e-mail. He was near worthless. Well, he has taken a years leave of absense and the guy who thinks he is in charge is sooooooo rude. Always wants to argue and always has to have the last word. I truly think they buy second hand equipment because all thier stuff is crappy. This hospital bed is all scratched and looks awful. Makes me mad to have it in my house. My cart for the Companion is rusted. The E tanks look like they have been used in welding type work, then drug through manure. Nothing is new, or near new. I have been assigned a case manager at Cigna. Now, I realize that she works for Cigna and is not going to be looking out for MY well being, but I am going to call her tomorrow. I am going to have conversation with someone over this piece of garbage they are expecting me to sleep in. Bless your heart. I know that you don't feel like fooling with this nonsense. We have figured out that I have enough liquid to last until Monday and my delivery day is Thursday. So, Monday, war will have to be declared. I wish I had the energy to be as mean as I want to be. I just get sooooo tired. It takes so much out of me to get angry. > Did I ever say I didnt like Apria? > L > NIPF 02 PH 06 Transtracheal 06 >
Guest guest
Tina....You bet! Apria has long been one of my gripes. Fortunately for me, I had other options. I choose Lincare and so far...knock on wood, they have been great. I'll help with a writing campaign. We can still be useful even from a keyboard. Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: APRIA.........AGAIN! Guest guest
Joyce....can't Lucian help with some forceful words in the right direction, to the right people? Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: APRIA.........AGAIN! , I hate Apria. Guest guest
Sher Glad Lincare had been good for you. While they are the second largest we don't seem to hear much about them here. My fear does remain that April and Lincare end up with all the market which will provide neither an incentive to provide service. I did just tour Lincare's website and compare to Apria's. One huge difference I immediately noticed. They provide with easy access the phone number of their corporate offices and the location on a contact page. I also noticed a lot more useful patient information such as information on using oxygen in your home and travel tips. I found this statement on their site very refreshing: " Mobility - a very important kind of freedom for almost everyone, but especially for the COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) patient. The therapeutic benefit that is now made possible is the main reason for having LINCARE Portable System. With the mobility this system provides, many COPD patients can go freely about their daily routine, take long trips, but most importantly can medically benefit from the prescribed exercise that the Oxygen Portable permits. " Now they of course concentrated on COPD and not PF but the fact that they state so clearly the importance of mobility. And I strongly recommend this part of their site for everyone to visit. Some great tips. http://www.lincare.com/patientedu/index.html Now a website may or may not tell you much about a company. It's put together by one or a couple of people. But often I think it is a reflection of attitude. If so, I'm very impressed with theirs. Compare it to Apria's. Apria talks about " we, Apria " . Lincare talks about " you, patient or visitor " . There is some great information on Lincare's site. > > > > I just need to talk about Apria again! Guest guest
Joyce... Here in Oregon we have what's called, "Insurance Commission" and it oversees Ins. Companies. Perhaps you have something similar in your state. It may not apply to Apria directly but it certainly would register/follow up on your insurance if they don't stop Apria's behavior/service to you. You should be able to lodge a complaint with your insurance co. and/or Dr. to help you. Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Re: APRIA.........AGAIN! Thanks for the info, Bruce. It is almost impossible to come up the the executive names for any company. Maybe they are afraid for thier lives....and should be. Certainly should worry about thier greedy souls! And I agree....it is going to get much, much worse! I've always wondered WHY do so many ins. companies have Apria exclusively?? Must be money involved someplace! Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there!
