On one side of our new T-shirt we need "I DID NOT SMOKE" & on the other "PRESCRIPTION DRUGS MADE ME FAT!" Guest guest
Wish you had another side to the tshirt for: You come near me with that cigarette and I'm going to take this tank off and put the cannula on the tip of your cigarette and see how you like fire.....ok, guess thats too extreme. I live in a smoke free city but the other night in an adjacent city as I was exiting a restaurant three rednecks (ok, I'm sorry but they were the stereotypes in every way) stood right in front of me and lit their cigarettes while I tried to make my way through. This in spite of me asking them not to. Then they got belligerent because I had the audacity to say that oxygen and fire weren't good together. I don't remember what else was said but think probably called them a few names as I was getting in the car. I don't mean cursing but maybe words like ignorant and some slightly worse. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i'm glad you are feeling a bit better. how's the wisdom tooth? > > > > > > i didn't watch dr who this year - i'm sure it will be > > repeated. > > > > > > > > > > > > in your msg to me you looked as if you were cut off mid > > sentance. > > > > > > have you been taking your scriptions today? > > > > > > > > > > > > may > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
May, I have always used a humidifier bottle, even when I was on 2L. They are a royal pain to deal with, but a necessity for me. Good for you. I cannot tolerate rudeness. Why would anyone want to be nasty to someone sick. Guest guest
I use a humidifier on 2 liters. In fact, today when Liquid was delivered for the first time, they set it up with humidifier without even asking me. I think many consider it not a necessity at low liters but I see no reason not to have that extra moisture. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > i'm glad you are feeling a bit better. how's the wisdom > > tooth? > > > > > > > > i didn't watch dr who this year - i'm sure it will be > > > > repeated. > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > in your msg to me you looked as if you were cut off mid > > > > sentance. > > > > > > > > have you been taking your scriptions today? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > may > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
Guest guest
The experiences of others are always helpful as are the opinions. I wish someone would just go around the world and find the best of each and then put them all together. You know, sometimes I think we put more thought into building a Basketball Arena than a health care system that works. They travel to all the best arenas and take the best of each. I guess I consulted too much in my career to see how easy certain things would be to fix if common sense and such was applied. ER is a good example. We're not talking about seeing more patients. We're talking about staffing and planning to match the normal timing of patients. To see patients without building a line in the waiting area. Oxygen is a simple division of liters by liter flow. Complicated? I think not. Anyone need to know more than a mattress retails for $95 (probably to Apria for $50) to know its not going to be comfortable? We get blood drawn, do urine analyses. Why aren't six minute walks part of every annual physical? In those countries that have surgical backlogs I don't know how you clean it up. Sad thing is once you did, no reason it couldn't stay as the number of surgeries would be the same. Disabled have to wait two years for medicare and then aren't eligible for all plans. Why? Easy to change. We don't have an affordable insurance for everyone in the US. Why not then start one tomorrow by offering everyone medicare? We all get shortcut by insurance paying so little for some things. Why not require all insurers at least to pay the medicare rate for all services? Maybe doctors could then spend a little more time. Hospitals competing instead of specializing or improving care. There are three major hospitals within 5 miles of each other in Plano. Do they all need all the same specialties? Of course not. But they are afraid of losing a patient to a competitor. Relieve ER and save it for serious by providing more satellite urgent care centers. Allow US citizens to legally order medications from legitimate Canadian pharmacies. Allow no exclusions for pre-existing conditions in health insurance policies. Provide incentives for training of more doctors in fields where shortages exist. Require ER triage to be manned by a doctor. Have an online database in which all insurers, medical facilities and providers are listed and rated by their patients (some have tried but need just one). Standardize medicaid across all states with only adjustment for cost of living. Limit malpractice claims to a maximum. I know this sounds contrary but convuluted as it seems the litigation is leading to poorer service because of the cost. Require health insurers to pay a minimum percentage of all revenues out for services. Require Cobra and Hipaa to apply for everyone regardless of company size and including state and local goverment employees and school employees. Support research and development of medications through tax incentives but not then allow those costs to be reflected in drug costs. (Essentially this brings all costs in line with what is being charged for same meds in other countries). Give physicians the say in all treatment of patients and do not allow insurance companies to question or override. Ok, just a start for now. > > > > > > > > > > Oh No, Are you in contact by phone? Guest guest
Bruce, or anyone, I'm being nosey, can you explain something to me, I'll try not to waffle, but fear I may fail! When you take out your insurance, most of you (US citizens that is, not us on here) don't have known medical conditions. So if you look at your family history, decide that you are a robust bunch and decide not to have the full insurance, just one that covers a little more than the basics (or perhaps just the basics if money's tight). Then you come down with a condition that is not covered on your insurance. When you next do your insurance is this condition now considered a 'pre-existing' one and they are able to refuse to cover you for it? Or are you able to upgrade your insurance cover this once to cover the new condition? I hope that makes sense. I'm trying to make sense of some of the problems that the medical care in the US faces/causes etc. Love Ze xx > > > > > >> > > > > > Oh No, Are you in contact by phone? Guest guest
hi Zena, I can only speak to private carriers or HMO's I dont know how medicare, or medical assistance (state insurance) works. We have several forms of insurance you can purchase here. Most companies offer insurance as part of their benefits package for their employees. Which are insurance companies like HealthPartners, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and I know there are others as well. Like mine because this company isnt like state government or anything they buy insruance through a company called Medica and then we have an administrator that oversees our policy, each company decides what they want to cover their employees in. Most not all insurance companies cover pre-existing conditions meaning I had insurnace before I was diagnosed with Rhumatoid Arthritis therefore my insurance continued to cover it when I left that company and came to this company I had to check to see if they would cover pre-existing conditions and yes they did if you didnt have a stoppage in coverage for over 90 days. Which I hadnt had a stoppage for over 90 days in insurance I was covered and it wasnt a question. But there are insurances you can purchase out there for instance look at AFLAC, http://www.aflac.com/us/en/Default.aspx you will see there are several different polices one can purchase, some employers offer those as well and some you can just go buy yourself. Some are just for cancer, some are just for hospitalization or major medical, it just depends what your company purchases and or what you buy. Does that make sense?
