I'm so confused!

Funny thing about acronyms...there are only so many letters to work with,

and the same acronym can mean different things.

So, this week I'm trying to sort out all the ADAs

Americans with Disabilities Act

American Dental Assosciation

American Diabetic Association

American Dietetic Association

The last two are so similar, but does anyone know if they are connected? I

know that the American Dietetic Association detests the Atkins diet and is a

major supporter of low fat. I haven't heard that the American Diabetic

Association has come out against Atkins, but their recomended diet for

diabetics sure sounds like the American Dietetic Association's low fat diet.

I'm confused...can someone help clarify this for my fragile little mind?

A document that lays down the law in how persons with disabilities can be

treated. (i.e. " Oh, you have MS? Well, you don't work here anymore. " )

> American Dental Assosciation

- Teeth health, has minimal diet recommendations, like eating less sugar.

Mostly promotes ways of dealing with getting and maintaining healthy gums

and teeth.

> American Diabetic Association

- don't get me started. They definitely recommend the high carb low-fat

diet, but they are also a full fledged association that provides programs

and advice/counseling for diabetics and fund research that has made a lot of

headway in diabetic treatment.

> American Dietetic Association

- I actually don't know much about them.
