That's what I get for taking the lazy way out. Obviously the headline had nothing to do with my post on laser treatments, but I failed to erase it. Sorry about that. BTW, homophobia means fear of men or people, fyi.

Re: American Cancer Society Gives in to Homophobia

Please share your experiences with laser treatments.

I was diagnosed a year ago almost to the day. I was 3+3 T1 with one malignant sample out of 12. I've been through a TUMT, which rendered me incontinent and impotent, as well as 44 radiation treatments. I'm happy to say the PSAs have been under .1, but as of yesterday the uro wants to do a laser treatment to open up the urinary channel. Apparently most men have a capacity of 400-450 cc in their bladders, and, after urinating twice, I was still retaining 500 cc of urine. After having been hustled into the TUMT, I'm not about to be rushed again. I'm 65, btw.

Can anyone tell me the downside of NOT having such a procedure? I can't be less continent than I already am. Is EVERY MD in this business a con man? I hate to assume that, but after going through four uro's, I don't know what to think.

I'd appreciate your help. Thank you in advance.

Tom
