This is a really good source for organizing and lining up help. I have so many friends who have offered so much. I end up using the same people over and over. I am not asking for in home help, yet. Just need rides and pick ups, etc. My daughters aren't going to be here for me when the going gets rough. The handwriting is on the wall. If I can make it till this time next year my husband will be retired. Then he can take care of me (and we all know how talented he is at that)! Actually he is a jewell.

Getting the help that I will need organized from all the people who have offered and will follow through ..... will be the job of my best friend....Ms. Organizer herself.

It is hard to know what our needs will be, but being ready is a good thing.

Joyce, I have been thinking about your need for a "wife" and here is what I have come up with.First, when my grandmother's kidneys were failing we hired a young girl who for free room and board and a small fee helped with her care during the day. I thought that maybe a young college girl at your church who needs free room and board can help with the house and make sure your O2 is always ready to go.Second, my dad has Scan as his supplemental ins and they send a housekeeper to his home 3 times a week for 4 hours each time and it only costs $8.00 a visit.. She grocery shops, does laundry, cleans, and assists him with various medical needs. ( She will also help

with bathing but he is adamantly against it!) They also provide him with 12 free trips to the doctor a year.Last, we do help lists at our church for long term help. There are always people who have 1 or 2 hours a week to donate and if one person is organizing the list it works great. I have been the organizer for a friend who had premature triplets and a friend with cancer.I am sorry about your girls but I think it is pretty normal for them to be in denial and unable to help. I think it is just in the made for TV movies that the family rallies around and they all do the right thing to help. My daughter, who I love more than life, just can't cope with me being sick. She is too used to me being there for her and can't adjust to me being the "weak" one in our relationship. We still talk 3 times each day, but she has a hard time coming home and when she does we pretend I am

okay. I know from her brothers though that she has spent days crying and unable to get off the couch. My sons, are more practical, less emotional, and therefore more help. I am praying God sends you a wife in some form and that you get answers for the pain. I love you- Sarcoid/PF 3/2006 California Re: Let's go team!

Thanks, for all your thoughts and suggestions. I will save this and may have to refer to it soon. I especially need help with the house and grocery shopping. My husband is a great housekeeper, but is usually tired from working. It is just beginning to be hard to keep up with daily things.

I think because he is so tired...that is one reason he messes up. I wish he could retire right now. He is having to take a day off tomorrow to take me for tests. Thank God for FMLA. It has been a life saver for us.

I love you, too.

Wish I could fly out to San Diego and see you and my sister at the same time.
