Guest guest
I was thinking there must have been some sort of manufacturing problem. We have none available here. large or small vial. Actually here you can't even get the large vial. Only the hospitals have that. I am not concerned. This drug is just flat out poison to me....I had every side effect that one could have on this drug. So I was not thrilled when my rheummy said my labs were changing and I needed to restart it. So I shall put this off as long as possible!!! Hopefully for forever!!! I can't imagine anyone taking this stuff consistantly for 12 years!!!!!! I was on it for not quite a year and it was a year of pure hell!!!!! I guess you must be one of the lucky ones that gets no side effects!!! I was on 5 mg of folic acid a day, plus high dose leucovorin weekly as well and it still made no real difference. The side effects were so bad that any positive effects were not worth it. I was too sick in bed either vomiting, shitting my pants with diarrhea or had sores on every mucous membrane in my body. Sorry about the graphic descriptions...but it was THAT bad!!!! All the pharmacist knew is that the wholesaler didn't have it. I used to work in the drug industry and this has all of the earmarks of a manufacturing problem because it is so widespread. The problem could be anything from increased usage to not anticipating inventory correctly or even a shortage from another manufacturer of one of the components. Fortunately for me my pharmacy had a larger vial and they called my rheumy to get my prescription changed to the larger size. Don't be overly concerned about this. I've been on MTX for 12 years (8 on the oral and 4 on the injectable) and this has never happened before.
Guest guest
I just phoned my pharmacy here in Vancouver (Delta), BC and asked him if he was having trouble getting MTX injectable or pills and he said no and sounded dumbfounded that I asked. I guess there is no problem here in Canada, or at least Vancouver, for ppl taking MTX. >I am in Texas. I did not ask about the MTX pills. I was told the info about >short supply of MTX injectable. No one has told me why...but here they are >rationing it. Only giving you one vial at a time if they have that. > >I have chosen to wait. Fortunately I take a split dose of TABLETS within 24 hours, so they had it in in time for my second dose. They didn't say anything about a shortage, but this was the first time this had happened. I guess I should ask the pharmacist about possible supply problems.(in Western NY)
