Thank you so much Eva. I have never heard of Rice Dream before. Next time I go

to Walmart or HEB I'll see if they have it or if they don't maybe the health food store

does in Waxahachie. I do the same as you do when I get out of the car. I have never

gone to a chiropractor. Maybe he could help. It gets to where I can hardly walk.

==============================================================================

I am writing back to Joyce McCrary who asked me what Rice Dream is. I am allergic to the protein in dairy products and soy does not agree with me also, as it irritates my bladder because of the interstitial cystitis that I have, so I buy Rice Dream which is Rice Milk. It tastes pretty good in my cereal. You can buy it in the cold section or on the shelf sometimes near the organic stuff in the regular supermarket.

I also have low back pain and I regularly see my chiropractor who does adjustments and I get massage therapy there also. I make sure when I get in and out of my car that I sit down and swing in both feet to get in and when I get out of the car, I make sure I have both feet on the ground before I get out. I used to get in the car one foot first and it hurts my back terribly so. When I brush my teeth I also bend at the knees and that helps too, plus I do stretches that help also while lying on my back.

Exercise does not seem to help with the rheumatoid arthritis pain in my wrists, shoulders, and ankles..

I got the same story from my RD that Nita got. I tried it for about a year and gave up because it didn't help (or hurt). God bless.

Joyce,I have a sister, who is 20 years my senior, and she has osteoarthritis. Because she takes glucosamine/chondroitin regularly per doctor instruction and it seems to help, I asked dh's rheumy about the drugs when we had our first consultation. He said, "It probably won't hurt you, but it's not likely to help your RA either."It isn't exactly inexpensive, even though the best price I know about is at Sam's Club, so dh is leaving it off.Just thought I'd share what the doc said.HTH :0),Nita> Eva,> What is Rice Dream? Eva-

Just remember that you are NOT alone. We are always an email away. This is

a shock and life changing diagnoses but it doesn't have to be the end.

There are a lot of good days ahead of you. That is not to say there won't be

an

occasional bump in the road. But, we have all walked in those same shoes and

it does get easier to understand. You have to go through all the stags of

grief that you would with any traumatic situation. You'll get through it and

what better comfort to know that any question you have can get answered here

from people whom have walked the walked.

I was diagnosed at 33 with 3 children at the time of 9, 7, 5. Scary thing.

And not to mention that my diagnosing doctor gave me 3-5 years to live. I am

entering my 3rd year now and I know from the group and a CML specialist that

I see now, that I will most likely live a normal life span and my CML will

be treated with long term medications such as with heart disease or diabetes.

Welcome to the group and hopefully you will find comfort with your new

friends here.

Sincerest wishes-

Hugs and Hope-

Hi Eva,

The fact that your white count hasn't moved in 3 weeks is really

great and tends to indicate that your disease is slow moving (not

aggressive).

Your Hgb and Hct are pretty low but not low enough to get any of the

red cell booster drugs.

Your MCV (I assume the W was a typo), is a measurement of your red

blood cells, as is the RDW. I've never seen RDW counts expressed with

4 digits before so I'll assume that a count of 1405 would be the same

as 14.05 for other labs. If so, this count is normal.

Your platelet count (blood cells that help your blood clot) is normal

as is their size which is reflected in the MPV.

The Hydrea and Allopurinol are standard for early treatment but when

your white count gets down to near normal levels, you'll probably

stop those drugs. Lorazepam is for anxiety.

The fact that they are watching you every week is a very good thing

and standard for this period of time. When you become more stable,

those blood draws and appointments will space out.

All in all, it looks like you're doing great and you seem to be in

good hands as well. You're now well on your way to the Zero Club :)

By the way, PCR's should be done every 3 months but they're much more

useful once you reach CCR (when your BMB comes back at zero).

Take care,

Tracey

[ ] EvaHey Eva,Good luck and big hugs for tomorrow.Zavie is right

(as always) aboutthe tape recorder because the information is flowing

so fast and your brainmay still be on 'stunned'.? At least I was!? ?

Another suggestion is to havea friend/family go with you and ask them

to take notes so you can listen tothe doc and look him (or her) in

the eyes while they are answering.? Then atleast you have the notes

to check later.?Ask for the doc, or the assistant'semail so you can

ask more questions later.? ?Breathe and think calmthoughts. We are

with you in spirit!Blessings,Rhondadx nov 2007?[Non-textportions of
