Guest guest
I think it may be just the q-tip hitting the entrance of the vagina. Because it's only one localized part of the entrance. But it's that one localized part that causes so much pain. What i don't understand is why i can't tolerate a q-tip but can get a tampon in with no problem. As long as its the plastic kind, i can use up to to a super. Guest guest
Maybe it's because you are doing it yourself? You are in control and know if it even starts to hurt you quit immediately. Guest guest
I too have not had problems with inserting tampons. My Hubby or myself can also insert a finger or two with out trouble as long as it goes straight in. It misses the vestibule skin on the sides. Also a tampon is slender and smooth, so it doesn't really put direct pressure on the vestibule area. When my husband or me move the fingers to the sides it does hurt and obviously so do a penis because it is much larger and puts pressure on all of the skin in the vestibule opening. I didn't even really know I had vv until sex started because tampons were no problem. Melinda > is why i can't tolerate a q-tip but can get a tampon in with no > problem. Guest guest
Wow! It is amazing that I can say the exact same thing about the tampons, sex and everything else that you are feeling! I cna't believe that there are soooo many people feeling the same things but yet still suffering! I too, have no problem putting in a tampon, or a finger or 2 straight in. When I pull the tampon out (which I never use anymore due to having to take it out!) I am in extrmeme pain as well. Every so often I will try again to use them but when I take it out it is too painful. What I do is take a squirt bottle and soak the tampon by spraying up as I pull out so there are no dry areas to cause sticking to the sides and i find that it helps somewhat. Even though the water causes it to expand more, it is more wet so it slides out better. It is the only way I could get it out without screaming! Same iwth the fingers, if my hubby moves them too much to the sides instead on in and out, it is painful. This is why I feel that there is more to my problem than vaginismus. Just a quick jog into my past, Just recently I was diagnosed after 5 years of pain with intercourse, as having vulvar vestibulitis. It all started after my 1st child 5 years ago and have been having problems ever since. Have been married for 9 years (together for 13) and had an extremely active sex life and since 2001 I have not had intercourse since except to see if my treatments have worked and to do my infertility treatments to get pregnant for my 2nd. I am now scheduled for a vestibulectomy in June after getting diagnosed and am ready to get that inflammed area gone! This treatment seems as if it makes sense to me compared to everything that I have heard from my other doctors I have seen. Nothing else has worked. I went to get another opinion when the doc told me surgery and another doc is telling me to do PT on myself and that I may not need surgery. I have tried it but it doesn't feel right and it hurts to touch the sides so I feel like I am wasting my time. If the sides still hurt, what good is therapy if I would not be able to get a penis past the front?? Anyone have any thoughts?? Anyway, best luck to all of you who are sharing your ordeals and I will keep you updated on my progress as well! Thanks, > > > > > > Starrydust: > > > > > > I'm 21 with vestibulitis and I don't have the itching or all over > > burning or > > > anything, but intercourse is impssible and gyn. exams are > painful. > > This quote > > > of yours sounds exactly like me: > > > > > > " And if i can't even handle a q-tip during an > > > examination...how will I handle sex? Guest guest
Well, yeah. PT (as with any other treatment for this awful disorder) doesn't work overnight. I had 8 months of PT before I was right again. You know the surgery recovery time and the PT you have to do with it has been taking women on this list 6 to 12 months and there is still residual pain from the surgery. I'd sure ask for a consensus about remaining pain after surgery from this list before I got the surgery. Good luck whatever you do Dusty Re: Introduction; starrydust, Wow!
