I am pretty new to this group and may have missed the beginnng thread to this. When I have a grey,white sticky discharge is is always BV. Have you been tested for that?

My doctor checks for BV in the office. It is not something that they have to wait to find out if you have. They send a culture away anyway, but they've always told me in the office if I have it.

Melinda, I think the BV test is a simple, in office, diagnostic test... I could be wrong, but whenever I was diagnosed with this, it was right away - during the appmt (in the office). You are asking them to identify the strain/type of yeast so as to be sure

you are going to get the right meds for it right? Tell them you want to

pick up copies of your lab reports - you are entitled to them.

In themeantine - you can dramatically reduce the signs of yeast by cutting

out ALL sugar and I do mean all. It really works well.

Yeah, I have read they can put some discharge into a solution and tell,

but they never seem to feel the need to do that for some reason. They

think they know everything by just looking.

When I first had chronic yeast, that were actually confirmed by yeast

cultures coming back with heavy yeast as the result, I would go in

miserable and in burning swollen pain and they would say there was no

sign of yeast and send me home. Then two days later I would have to go

back in and complain to get a culture done. Then they would look and

The test where they put discharge into a solution is called a whiff test. It is to determine if you have BV. When the discharge mixes with the solution and you have BV it smells like month old dead fish!!! I've smelled it, it is awful.

fruit contain natural sugar or is that bad for yeast also.>

I don't know if honey is considered sugar -

Fruit does contain natural sugar and if you are in the throes of a serious

yeast attack, you might want to avoid it. I don't know that that's a given,

but you can google it.

Try googling something like " sugar free diet " or " candida diet " or

anything along those lines.

I can tell you it worked for me - cleared up yeast without meds in two weeks

sugar free and had an added bonuss of losing 6 lbs. I am a heavy

consumer of sugars - in my daily coffee and tea, ice cream every day or

every other day, bananas, breads, wine etc.
