Guest guest
In Indiana claims of medical malpractice can be made through the department of insurance against all providers. Apria has had one before made on 2/28/2005 and it resulted in a settlement of $960,000. Indiana has a Patients Compensation Fund. For health insurance there are also grievance procedures. Here are two links and both pages have phone numbers. http://www.in.gov/idoi/medmal/ http://www.in.gov/idoi/health/ For all, other states have similar. NC has a great one, Beth, hoping you never need it, but a special department devoted to such consumer issues. Texas has a complete listing of every medical insurance carrier and the number of policies and the justified complaints. By the way, Cigna doesn't come out very well. I would think the last thing any provider wants is problems with the state. I just recall not too long ago having problems with my cable installation even and I called the person in my city responsible for the cable licensing. I got a response from the cable company within 2 hours. > > , > > My boss suggested contacting the State Insurance Agency since you are unable to change oxygen providers because Cigna only deals with Apria. > > Leanne > > > --------------------------------- > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
Joyce Tell Apria you either want a comfortable mattress or $960,000. You'll make it their choice...lol > > > > , > > > > My boss suggested contacting the State Insurance Agency since you > are unable to change oxygen providers because Cigna only deals with > Apria. > > > > Leanne > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Guest guest
Bruce, At one point Cigna through Caremark Pharmacy pulled my Cellcept. I was without medication for 5 months. I worked day and night fighting that fight. I won. At that time, I went through the State Insurance Commission. Never ever heard a thing. Evidently just another bureaucracy. You know, I am somehwat equiped to handle this nonsense, when and if I am not so sick. But, there are so many people that don't even have access to the internet or any idea of what to do to get help. It is so sad. I appreciate all the research that you do. It is so sad that we have to fight this monster on a daily basis.....but doubly sad that we have to fight to get the help we need to survive. God bless you. Guest guest
Well, I think you got misguided by someone within the department of insurance because obviously they are handling somehow lots of grievances. But so hard to go through bureaucracy. Yes, just really makes me angry how hard we have to fight for simple basic rights to good medical care and humane treatment. And, I look around and its like this everywhere. Sometimes I feel like moving to a Caribbean Island and getting a hut on the beach and saying to h... with medical care, just sip drinks with umbrellas and lay back and look at the surf (and hopefully some scantily clad sungoers) and live life that way as long as it lasts. Oh but then I come back to where I am and reality and just battling for myself the best I can. > > > > > > , > > > > > > My boss suggested contacting the State Insurance Agency since you > > are unable to change oxygen providers because Cigna only deals with > > Apria. > > > > > > Leanne > > > > > > > > > --------------------------------- > > > Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo!
