Guest guest
My joints have been feeling really good all summer (the fatigue has been bad though) and then just this morning I woke up with a swollen knee. I'm not saying that I have no swelling anywhere else, but my knee this morning was HUGE and I have had some trouble walking. I've also been at the computer here for a few hours and I am worried that when I get up in a couple of minutes I am going to have trouble getting around. Ahh... fall is almost here. I am not looking forward to it. I'm going to my rheumy on Tuesday to see if I can get on Embrel. I was on Remicade, but it doesn't work for me. I was trying to get on the Humira trial, but during my appt my joints weren't swollen enough to qualify... all the trials and tribulations of having RA. Hope everyone is well. Guest guest
Dear , Dh's knees swell too. Does anyone else here have success with putting ice on their swelled joints? I know heat helps relieve pain, but dh has had some success with an ice pack relieving knee inflammation. I get my injections in a foam cooler with an ice pack enclosed. I save the ice packs and keep them in the freezer for just such an occasion. You can also use a bag of frozen veggies wrapped in a thin towel. Let me know whether this works for anyone else or not. Guest guest
Ice really helps a lot of things - as it cools down the tissues more blood is sent to the area to help warm it up. The extra blood flow helps with healing as well. (It also hurts after awhile, which can take your mind off your other aches and pains..........) I keep a bag of frozen peas in the freezer to use as an ice pack - I've had the same bag for probably 10 years now. They've been partially thawed and frozen so many times that I hope no one ever tries to cook and eat them! Beth > Dear , > > Dh's knees swell too. Guest guest
Hi Marcia, Yes, " dh " stands for dear hubby and " dd " stands for dear daughter. " HTH " stands for " Hope This Helps. " Here's a website that explains what a lot of email abbreviations mean and covers smileys as well: <http://acro.harvard.edu/GEI/smileys.html>. Not surprisingly, my dd12 is much better at email abbreviations and shorthand than I am...html comes easy for her too. One of my other favorites is " TIA " which means " Thanks in Advance. " I like your gentle hugs, Nita > hi, Nita! when you refer to " dh " , do you mean your " dear hubby " ? and when you sign off on your messages with " HTH " , what does that mean? thanks and gentle hugs, Marcia
