Guest guest
I was informed today that my insurance will cover everything..( Deere Insurance) I was confused because the message on my machine when I got home siad that since the hospital where I will have this done (Cottage Hospital) is under their PPO that the insurance company does not require pre approval. Does this seem strange? So, after the surgery could they say, hey this was experiemental and we are not paying because you didn't check it out with us first? I think taht I want the Doctor's office to sign a paper that it is indeed covered and that I will not be charged for this. I do think that the office did contact thie insurance company and the insurance company said that the hosital/doctor did not need to have prior approval. Anyone ever have this happen to them????? Guest guest
Hi Carol, Have you had an initial weigh-in with your surgeon yet? If not, any weight you lose before the first appointment (either surgeon or orientation) WILL NOT COUNT toward your 10%! Sorry if I'm repeating stuff you already know, but maybe someone else out there doesn't know that. Heck, some of the PCPs encourage people to lose weight, thinking it applies to the 10%, but it doesn't. carol colwell wrote: > Beverly, > Congratulations on getting you surgery date. Guest guest
Eleanor, Thanks for the reminder. Yes, I saw Dr. Baggs on Feb 6th. I have only loss 10 pounds since then. I loss 6 before that because I had gained weight during Christmas and thought I should take it off before I saw him. Now I wish I hadn't because I am having such a hard time losing any more weight. I am only averaging about 2 pounds a week with only 10 days to go. I guess it won't be the end of the world if I have to go back when I do lose enough weight. I was just really hoping I could do it. Guest guest
Hi Beverly, I am not familiar with Dr. Park, but I'll assume that she does great work. Is your surgery going to be open or lap? My surgery was open, so if your surgery is going to be lap . .. . well, I can't address that. Pain management while you're in the hospital is really good. The only time I felt any serious pain was when I first stood up or if I had to cough or sneeze. (Be sure to hug a pillow if you have to cough or sneeze.) Once out of the hospital, it wasn't too bad, either - after I had enough sense to rent a recliner that helped me into a standing position. That might not be necessary for most folks, but both of my knees are totally shot and I was straining myself way too much when I would get to my feet. I gotta admit that I was a bit afraid of eating or drinking right after surgery. But, I just took things slowly and carefully and never had any problems. Don't trust your perception of what a small amount is - measure. When they brought my first meal in the hospital, there were some one ounce plastic cups for me to measure out my broth, juice, etc. The ones that I didn't use in the hospital I brought home with me. I'm still using them to measure out parts of my meals. All the best, Kay open RNY 12/1/03 Beverly wrote: > Thanks Kay - I feel like I am in the fast lane now.
