Guest guest
Hi : It's pretty typical for RA patients to be on some sort of drug "cocktail." I personally take Humira, methotrexate, prednisone, bextra and stuff to counteract some of the bad side effects that may develop (folgard). A lot of the drugs work in concert with each other. I have had to go off different drugs at different times and believe me, I do notice a difference if one of my drugs isn't there. I try and do other things to stay healthy so I don't feel too flipped out by my pharmacy. Working out, Pilates, weights, trying to have some fun and hanging with my friends and family help a lot. Good luck to you. gloria
Guest guest
Your opthamologist gets shocked very easily. That's not an awful lot of RA medicines and in fact I saw a report recently (I think the workers were Scandanavian) that a combination of three DMARDs was better for RA than a single DMARD. I think the three were Methotrexate, Plaquenil, and Sulfasalazine, and were compared to Sulfasalazine alone. I think it would have been more useful if they compared against Methotrexate alone but that's my opinion. Anyway they concluded that each DMARD works in at least a sllightly different way so a combination is often better than a single medication. Anyway everyone is different so you have to determine experimentally what works for you and it sounds like you are working toward that. God bless. ----- Original Message ----- From: H. Rheumatoid Arthritis Sent: Wednesday, July 28, 2004 8:48 PM Subject: methotrex and plaq. I am now on vioxx, prednisone, methotrexate AND plaquanil, plus darvacet. Is this too much? Is it okay to do the methotrexate and the plaq? I mean, I know it's okay because my doc didn't take me off the plaquanil, but I'm just wondering what ya'll think about it. I still feel so new at all this even though my symptoms started almost 4 years ago. I was just diagnosed this past winter and am still in denial to some degree. I had my eyes checked today (been on the Plaquanil since last Feb.) and the opthalmologist was shocked at all the meds.
Guest guest
I am only on methotrexate at the moment. I moved back to my old hometown three years ago, so had to part with the rheumy I had. The GP I registered with was a rheumy but I had issues with him, did not think he was doing his best for me and don't see the point of seeing s GP you don't trust and have no respect for. I switched to his partner and he has been great. He has now referred me to a different rheumy at the hospital clinic for a full review as I seem to be developing one problem after another. Hopefully this will get me better meds & sort the Sjogren's out. hugs to everyone , Lynne
Guest guest
I am on Methotrexate, Plaquenil,Doxycycline, Folic Acid and Vioxx for the RA. I would like to see your opthalmologist's face if he saw the rest of my meds for Asthama, Diabetes and BP. He would probably pass out. LOL ===== BOXER DOGS ARE BEAUTIFUL maryrue@...
