I take the generic versions of Detrol and Flomax and I am

completely incontinent after an otherwise successful IGRT. In fact, I took both

Flomax and Detrol for BPH long before I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I'm

not sure how my situation vis a vis incontinence could be any worse, but I'm

inclined to blame a botched TUMT for the damage.

I'm not an expert, but my understanding is that Flomax is for the

opposite problem, inability to urinate. It relaxes certain

muscle tissue that could otherwise restrict the flow of urine.

Your friend would probably be worse off on Flomax than he is now.

There are other things that can help, including a clamp that can

be put on the penis, affectionately known as a " geezer squeezer " .

A good urologist can present all the options to your friend.
