Hi everyone,

It's me Morey and I decided to rejoin cfparents, so to the new people I

will introduce myself and my kids. I am married to (age 41,) and we have

been married 20 years! I have two great kids, Nick is almost 18 and a senior in

high school, he doesn't have CF and for the most part is very healthy, he does

very well in school and is on the track team again this year, running sprints

and doing great. He does have asthma which is usually exercise induced and some

sort of inflammatory bowel disorder, hes on proventil inhaler for his asthma and

levbid for the bowel thing. is 16 and she has CF, asthma, bad allergies,

chronic sinusitis and GER which is mild and she just takes Zantac for. Her lung

disease is pretty mild and we used to have alot of trouble with her stomach and

with her getting bowel obstructions a lot but I think we finally solved that

problem after many years of treating the obstructions with all kinds of

laxatives, go-lightly and then Miralax, but we finally reduced her enzyme dose

and we got down to her taking just 2 REGULAR Ultrase with meals and 1 with

snacks and this seems to have finally solved the problem, who knew it would be

that easy? We had a difficult time with 's old CF doc who insisted she

could not get too much enzyme, well add that to the list of things he was wrong

about. She is doing very well now for the most part and shes also a straight A

student, she will be inducted into the National Honor Society on March 22-- we

just got a notice of that! so we are proud of her for keeping her grades up even

though she does miss quite a bit of school.

Now we go to the CF Center at Children's Hospital in Long Beach CA and we

really like the care gets there. Her biggest problem with her CF has

always been with her sinuses, and now she's got another sinus infection, she was

on Bactrim DS for a month along with Tobi and it didn't clear up, so as of

yesterday she is on Augmentin for three weeks, and we are to be rechecked in two

weeks and also get another CT scan of her sinuses so we can keep track of how

they are looking. She has had 12 sinus surgeries and the last one was just in

Nov. 99 so we are hoping to stretch out the time between surgeries if it is at

all possible. The sinus infections make her extremely tired and she had missed

about 2 weeks of school before we went in to Clinic yesterday, well I don't know

what it is but today she went to school and she seems to be doing better already

so lets hope it continues.

I guess that is enough from me for now, I don't know if everyone on this list

knows, (I know some of you do), but I was also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia last

fall and I have been learning I need to take care of myself first or else I am

of no use to or anyone in my family. I am taking a lot of medication

still, and I am seeing a counselor, also I got into a water exercise class and

it is helping me alot.

I hope to hear from everyone and get caught up, I have been reading some of the

posts in the archives and it looks like we still have alot of the same people so

maybe most of you know me already!

love and hugs,

M

Mom of Nick aged (almost!) 18 no CF

and aged 16 w/CF
