For those of you (or your spouses) that are engineers or know how to wire gadgets (I personally am terrified of electricity and am always ready to push my husband away with a broom when I think he is working with something too risky) there is another that is cheeper (around $50-$60) but you have to build a box (or put a piece of tape over the exposed wires) and attach a power cord. You then plug it in and set your temperature. I have the cheaper one as my husband found the more expensive (and already wired) one later on line for anyone that was interested. Could you point us to the item he got for you? That would help those of us who aren't techie-minded in finding the right device. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Joanne, I just bought the temp controller you recommended. They sent it without instruction manual and it wouldn't be a problem, but it seems not to work. They didn't even send the invoice...I don't know if temperature is set in Celcius or Fahrenheit, I can't set the time and I'm not sure if I set the temp right. Do you have a manual or can you explain me the details, please? They cost approximately $50 to $100 and well worth it. You will be making yogurt once or twice a week for one to two years ...or more!!!! > > My Husband saw what a problem I was having trying to control the temperature between 100 and 110 degees for my Eurocuisine. So he went online and purchased a temperature controller that I set the temperature and it maintains whatever temperature I have chosen (I set mine at 108 degrees and that is where it stays within 1 degree plus or minus.) I keep a piece of paper with the starting time taped to the lid and take it out 28 hours later. It's wonderful! Don't purchase the yogurt makers that have an automatic shut off. > > These temperature controllers have a probe that goes under the cover of your yogurt maker into the water that your yogurt jars or yogurt container sits in. You set the temperature to whatever you desire. Your yogurt machine is plugged into the controller and the controller is plugged into the outlet. That's it! The temperature controller will turn your yogurt machine off and on to maintain the temperature you have chosen. Just make sure the water level is maintained and the probe stays in the water throughout the 28 hours or whatever time frame you choose. > > My yogurt is perfect everytime and by just glancing at the lighted dial I can see the temperature is being maintained removing any concern. > > It's great! > > Joanne > UC/CC 5/07, SCD 6/07, no meds > > > --------------------------------- > Never miss a thing.
