Guest guest
Well as a side note, one of my hobbies is motorcycle touring. Especially now when a lot of thoughts enter my mind hoping onto the Goldwing and taking a long ride does wonders for my attitude and clears my head. When I talk to other people about it I always hear about how dangerous it is to ride a motorcycle. This even comes from my wife. My pat answer now (and I feel that I can say this) is “people die of cancer too” I do like the “curing myself of prostate cancer” answer too. One of the real larrikins on that site was attending a conference and at one of the breaks he was outside having a smoke (this was before smoking was banned outside!). One of the doctors castigated him saying that he would kill myself with that habit, to which our boy responding “Don’t worry doc, I’m trying to cure myself of prostate cancer!” Curiously enough, he subsequently did die, but of neither prostate nor lung cancer. But that’s why I joke on the story on my website ( http://www.yananow.net/Mentors/TerryH.htm ) that I was almost cured in 2005 when I had a heart failure episode and I guess it is a toss-up which condition will get me first. Hence my desire to wring what I can out of the wonderful time I have now, rather than worry too much about the future. I'm not an expert on this however, if I understand him correctly, Dr. " Snuffy " Myers, a leading expert in the U.S., recommends a Mediterranean diet. Also, as I understand it, most of what we know about healthy diets for cancer is basically the same as healthy diets in general, e.g., for cardiac health. There are some supplements that have been advanced as good for prostate cancer patients. Some I've heard about are pomegranate extract (or maybe better, pomegranate juice), lycopene, vitamin D (in moderate quantities, you can get too much of that), fish oil, and maybe others. However the evidence for all of these is kind of weak. I'm not aware of any large scale clinical trials and some of the supplements that have been claimed to be beneficial by some researchers are claimed to be of no value by others.
