Hi Group,

Just got back from my consult with the Onco. My 22 months post IGRT TX PSA level has dropped to 2.62 ng/ml, down from 3.5 three months earlier and a worrying 4.92 the week before that. Still not as low as I had hoped for ( I was hoping for 2.0 or less) but at least it's moving in the right direction! Onco doesn't need to see me untill end of year.

Chris:

Congratulations! A journey of a thousand miles begins with but a single step. The important point is, it's going in the right direction. All the best.

Hi that is great news. You have been on my mind all summer, and I'd hoped

you would update us. Something told me that your PSA would drop back down. I

know how crazy making the test is. Gregg's most recent was .8 while the previous

was .7. Doctor said it had stabilized. Keep in touch.

Hi Laurel,

Thanks for your post - I do genuinely look forward to your replies. I'm glad Gregg is doing well. I think as radiation patients we have to accept these fluctuations as nothing to worry about while the surgery guys are worrying over their third decimal point!

It was a strange summer with my Onco having told me in May to prepare for the worst and think about hormones. I knew in myself it wasn't possible to feel - and as everyone said to me 'look' (blush) - so good: it just could not be going wrong. She actually seems more pleased with my 2.6 than I do - as I say I was hoping for less than 2. It has made me realise that I have been living and waiting in limbo for that magic sub 1.0 to happen, while I think for me it perhaps will never happen; my prostate (hopefully without the cancer) seems to be recovering from the radiation. I do feel more relaxed about the next 3-4 months before my next test and will take each day as it comes. For the first time I do now feel 'post treatment' rather than Tx as an ongoing situation. Of course the other question is just how much did the pomegranate, green tea and turmeric supplements etc play a part and should I continue. I have at least 3 months supply so I shall for the moment. Just as well as my pomegranate crop is not looking so good this year.

If you do pay a return visit to Spain I would very much like to show you and Gregg around Ronda and have a coffee on the Parador balcony overlooking the gorge (btw I supplied the mobile toilet for Madonna for her shoot in the Ronda bullring - fame?!!)

Best regards,

Chris

Of course there's no way to know if those things help, but if it

were me, I'd keep taking them and maybe even increase the dose.

I had a friend who was treated by a famous oncologist in the U.S.

( " Snuffy " Myers) who had him taking 5 pomegranate pills every

day. I think they were these:

tml

Well, he died anyway. But he was far gone with metastases and a

PSA of 300 before he even discovered he had cancer. However, it

appears that you can take a lot of those pills without harm.

I see that Puritan's Pride is offering one of their " buy 1 get 2

free " sales on supplements. You can buy 3 bottles of 60 250 mg

pills for ten bucks.

Hi Aan,

Thanks for the info. I'm currently getting them from www.justvitamins.co.uk which also has a BOGOF offer, so I'll compare prices and look at upping the dose.

Good news Chris. As an 'androgen advocate' I would be very interested in

learning what your , T, DHT, E2 and SHBG are doing. You could post on

FitCare or HCT if you think that more appropriate. Chrz. Sam.
