Going to Tulsa for a few days. Leaving Monday afternoon, returning

Thursday afternoon. Partly, to help a friend there and partly as a

bit of trial to even see how I feel about traveling.

I'll stick to the board....easier for me to see the order, see the

responses, not clutter my email more than it is. But thats why they

offer the three ways, so we have choices.

EK days won't happen for me. One, it way too hard to get to and two we go to Hayward Wisconsin for a week during EK days. Although it sounds like it would be a great time. Oh, so if I drive to Chicago, I will not have traveled? Then guess

I'm not traveling to San either....because I'm driving.

Oh i'm coming. Just Leanne says since I'm driving it doesn't count to

her as traveling. Yours doesn't either. Leanne says it doesn't count

to her if not on a plane....lol

Maybe she'll revise to at least say a certain distance drive is still

traveling....lol

I do know that EVERY hospital has to write so much off each year. So

it doesnt matter what kind of hospital they are everyone is required

to write a certain amount off. Most you can apply for a grant and

then that covers your hospital bill, but then there will probably be

a doctor bill on top of that.

Lots of doctors write off a lot too. Privately owned hospitals

generally write off a relatively small percentage. Public hospitals,

a much larger percentage. However, each area has different programs

available. Here, for instance, if you get set up as a patient in the

assistance programs of either Parkland (Dallas) or JPS (Fort Worth)

then that will cover doctors and hospital. And, the medical

assistance program income requirements are not as difficult to meet

as is medicaid's requirements.

For instance, I have a friend, reached the age she was no longer

covered under her parents policy, was still in college, took a job

where no insurance initially offered. She was eligible for one of

those programs.
