Guest guest
Gwynne Oh within all the misery I couldn't help but laugh at the " obviously not in the damn bed they gave Joyce. " It just hurts and infuriates to see such things as we discussed today. Too tired tonight but going to read tomorrow or next day Apria's annual report to see if any significant suits we aren't aware of. Of course would have to be pretty big to be material for them but I did find the $960,000 pay out on a single claim in Indiana interesting. What makes it sadder is knowing theoretically it doesn't have to be like that. Then even sadder to know there are small locally owned mom and pop providers like ours who actually remember who you are, things about you, what your needs are, your plans, and who always just say in words and actions that is what they are here for. I worry that this industry like so many others will lose its mom and pops. I will guarantee you right now if I called and said I do apologize but I have a family emergency and need to leave town tomorrow morning, is there any possible way you can get me a portable tank. They'd do it. Yet Apria can't even figure out how to set someone up to meet their basic needs, can't figure the simple math of how many pounds it takes based on liter flow, and refuses to just meet the minimum needs. They call what they sent Joyce a " hospital bed " . From the description, I've never been in any hospital that had such junk. The beds have been in good condition and as to the mattresses, I've never recalled thinking of them as uncomfortable so they must have not been too bad. Now the ER mattresses, worse, but not the rooms. Oh, but, doctors visit in hospitals. We'd complain to them. They send us home and don't even know how its going. They write the prescriptions. You know what? Thats another party who should be complained to. I know they are overwhelmed but their prescription isn't being properly filled. Probably wouldn't make the calls, but sure wish a few would call and have to deal with Apria. Wonder what they'd have to say about a delivery man telling the patient she shouldn't use what he prescribed? Bet if the pharmacy just decided to change the prescription for 500 mg of levaquin to 300, that they didn't need 500 they'd hear something. Or would they? I don't know, but just wondering. Now, what I'd like to see is what they charged the insurer for the $95 mattress. I just know they were going to charge Aetna (at negotiated rates) $1580 for a $250 Nonin 9500 oximeter or rent it for $284 per month to them. > > and Joyce, > All this crap about Apria is enough to make me want > to chew nails. Guest guest
Gwynnie, Yes, faith surely helps. Sometimes that is all there is. Oh I get the grumpies too, believe me but there are no choices unless I want to do without something I need. All of us. If it's important, like Joyce's bed, we just have to keep on keepin' on. Talk about fortitude? Girl you have it in heaps! I'm not sure I could do what you do Gwynnie. Yes, our system sooo needs an overhaul. I doubt I'll see it in my lifetime. Sleep well friend. Mama-Sher, 69; IPF, 3-06, OR.Don't fret about tomorrow, God is already there! Apria etc. and Joyce,All this crap about Apria is enough to make me wantto chew nails. They've been getting things wrong eversince I joined this board and started reading posts. The way they belittle people, and their aggressive, grossly immature, unprofessional behavior epitomizeswhat is wrong with health care in this country.
