Guest guest
Hey maybe thats why I dont have a cough at all? I take that pain killer all day long for my RA, gosh isnt that funny how those thigns work. Like I said I will be on my death bed when they finally figure this thing out. Sandie > > Hi, > > I just got off the phone with a woman who lives in Georgia and her pulmonologist prescribed Ultram er for her cough - http://www.ultram-er.com/ultram-er/index.html. She said since she's been taking it....no cough. She missed one day and coughed a lot. Don't shoot the messenger - I know it's a narcotic but I thought I would pass it along anyway. It's normally used for chronic pain. Who knows - maybe it could help someone. > > Leanne uip 1/03 Illinois > > > > --------------------------------- > Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Vicodin has pluses and minuses for your lungs and breathing as well. If your breathing is being restricted by pain then it helps. A key is maintaining the ability to reach an inspired volume on a spirometer (the little plastic thing with the blue hose) over 1000 to avoid pneumonia. However, I've also been warned that reliance on it too much to breathe can cause the lungs to depend on it and not do their part as much. I don't know if the latter is true. I do know that it required it when I was in the hospital after my VATS as I could easily tolerate the pain but my lung was holding back. Also, when I felt the lung pain on Dec 30, i checked my inspiration and took vicodin to raise it, then called the doctor the next day. Many pain killers do have secondary effects. For instance, did you know advil will also help control itching? Apparently it hits that receptor as well. However, it requires larger doses than you would want to be on for any extended time. > > i take Vicadin for pain but...........it also stops my cough, I never cough > anymore. > > Vicky81856 > > > > **************Start the year off right.
