Guest guest
Dr. Raghu asked me to ask my regular doc to take me off Prosac to another anti-dep as Prosac can cause the PAH too. Guest guest
I surely understand your feelings there. You should discuss with your psychiatrist. If you're getting Prozac from anyone other than a psychiatrist you should change to one. I honestly don't know which anti-depressants are more or less likely to cause PAH. While Dr. Raghu is highly renowned I just searched five sites for side effects of Prozac and didn't find PAH anywhere. Maybe its an interaction but I didn't see that either. I would certainly make any change carefully. But I don't know how other SSRI's such as Xoloft and Paxil would compare in risk since I can't find the risk on Prozac. I don't know either what quantity of Prozac you're on, but any change of Prozac needs to be carefully done through gradual reduction. And, again, I would trust no one other than a psychiatrist to manage that and personally would want to be seeing a counselor in conjunction to see what it does do to your depression. I know to a pulmonologist, depression may seem like something minor, but I've been at depths of mental illness that I wouldn't trade IPF for under any conditions. So this is something I'd find out more about and pursue carefully if the evidence suggests you should. The fact you're on prednisone definitely makes any change in any psychiatric med even more complicated. > > Dr. Raghu asked me to ask my regular doc to take me off Prosac to another anti-dep as Prosac can cause the PAH too.
