Guest guest
I'm no longer obese! As of this morning, I'm merely " overweight " , according to the BMI charts. What a concept! I had my one-year checkup with Dr. Rabkin yesterday, and everything is looking good. I had my blood drawn -- 12 vials worth! -- for every blood test imaginable, it seems. I am feeling good, so I expect that my levels will be fine, but am looking forward to getting the results to know for sure. Delphine used her nifty body fat analyzer on me, connecting two electrodes to my foot, and to electrodes to my hand. It's completely painless, btw! Delphine input my age and heights, and pushed a little button on the machine, which tested me and printed out my stats and recommendations. My body fat percentage is 29.1%, which I was very pleased with, given the fact that I haven't adhered to any rigorous exercise regimen so far. The little machine recommended a target Percent Body Fat of 21.0%, and a goal weight of 161.5. I only need to lose another 18.5 pounds and I'm there! Dr. Rabkin says he feels very confident that I'll make that goal and maybe even more, depending on how I handle my eating and exercise. The support group meeting last night was great, and I so enjoyed seeing all the post-ops as they progress down the scale, and all the pre-op who are so hopeful (and impatient!) about what lies before them with this surgery. I got a little unexpectedly verklempt when I stood to talk about how this surgery has been an answer to my fervent childhood prayers, but it is so true! To now be able to look to the future with a honest-and-truly probability of NEVER BEING OBESE AGAIN, well, I really can't even wrap my brain around it yet. I was gone all day yesterday, from 10:30am until 10:30pm, so I am now trying to play catch-up on all the emails that came in while I was gone.
