Regards re : water in Scotland Isn't it brilliant! We have a private supply to our village, and you can tell if it's been raining in the mountains because the water goes browner. It tastes fab, and you don't worry about what it could do to your insides (or baby's) cos it's all natural and it's only drunk the once. It's what I miss the most when I'm away. It gets better the further north & west you go. You also need less powder in the washing machine and less shampoo on you hair. My mum now lives in Bristol and when she came here she filled up the powder ball for the machine and we'd to rinse it through three times beore it was clear !! PLUS - no water metering here !! Only one of the many reasons why scotland is the place to be !! love
Guest guest
Well....the midges ! It's a bit uncomfortable if you're out in them but usually they're only really bad on damp drizzly dark days when you'd rather be inside anyway ! We live in , one of the worst places for midges, so they say, and I've only had about 3 bites this year. They're only out in August/September. We have a wee tourist cottage we let out, lovely traditional thatched thingy, and it doesn't stop it being booked !! Mind you, if you're not used to it ..... Guest guest
Hmmm - found an enormous mosquito outside when pouring something down the drain. Must be the type that's been 'bugging' us with enormous bites this year. Given the choice, Think I prefer the midges of my childhood. DS1 has this horrible Kent accent, drops his 'h's etc, DS2 needs speech therapy and will probably go the same way when his speech is clearer. I certainly don't have nearly as strong an accent as I used to, and people frequently misidentify my accent as Irish, Cornish, Glaswegian etc. Anyway how many non-Scots recognise a NE Scotland accent?? - not many in my experience. You must have caught me on an off day, Angi. I'll probably perk up a bit when I'm more mobile and can touch type two handed again. :-\ Lesley

Guest guest
> What's the house swap register ? *the* way to holiday! will send you all the details. If you join I'm sure you'll be inundated with offers. Essentially you pay a sum (£25ish) to join each year, then you are sent the register and updates and you ring up or email and arrange your own swaps, no more expense save travel. Brilliant, we joined last year and have swapped to yorkshire, warwickshire and scotland, twice with dds friends as well - something we would never have afforded otherwise. > I really need to join the NCT Please please do. Email NCTinfo@... for an info pack or visit the website www.nct-online.org and print off a membership form. The free book offer is only till the end of this month, after that it's an audiotape. Joining the NCT is one of the best things I've ever done. Enjoy.... Sue S
