Guest guest
Thanks everyone for your posts. This whole situation is very frustrating. I was on Ortho-Tricyclin-Lo when my pain started. My pain doesn't seem to cycle with my menstrual cycle. It's pretty much the same the whole way through. I started b/c because my periods are very irregular and I thought it would be nice to normalize it for once. My hormones must be out of whack, but no one has ever done a test to see what my levels are. The monophasic pills sound very tempting. How wonderful to never have a period! Guest guest
I think the warnings are there, we just don't recognize them as being specific to vulvar skin. Take a look at the side effects listed here for Alesse - and the potential for skin problems included, i.e. http://www.rxlist.com/cgi/generic/lngeed_ad.htm Acne Change in cervical erosion and secretion Erythema multiforme Erythema nodosum Rash (allergic) Cystitis-like syndrome Temporary infertility after discontinuation of treatment Vaginitis, including candidiasis Now the thing is, I personally think that these b/c's are carelessly prescribed without first determining how an individuals body works. We each have our own chemical makeup which requires specific chemical input. Before prescribing hormones, they should test our hormones to see what our particular balance is before giving us drugs to address our needs. If they did this there would likely be far fewer side effects. Birth Control How long after stopping birth control should you expect to see results? I quit two months ago and still feel pain. As a side note, where are all the warnings on the birth control pills or from the doctors that taking birth control could cause this much pain? I know I never would have started had I known the consequences! **IF REPLYING TO THIS POST, PLEASE REMOVE ORIGINAL POST, THANKS** Our HOME page is http://groups.yahoo.com/group/VulvarDisorders to search our archives, files, articles, etc. ***
Guest guest
I forgot to add that IF the reason you developed VV is solely hormonal (and in my case and many of the women on this list - it is NOT the sole reason) - then you need to get your hormones checked by blood test to see if you are in normal range for estrogen, progesterone and testosterone. If not, your doc can maybe address this with a patch or pill that fits your needs. Birth Control How long after stopping birth control should you expect to see results?
