Guest guest
Exactly what I found in Waitrose. However, the difference there was that all the white flour had gone, but still lots of lovely wholemeal, granary, etc. My parents left on holiday today, going to their caravan in Somerset. Said it was a lovely journey down, very little traffic and my mother has taken her bread machine with her! Alison I ventured out to the supermarket today to pick up enough provisions for the week (I'm not usually that organised but thought if I was going to use the car, I'd better make it worth it). There was tons of bread on the shelves which I was surprised about as I'd heard it had all gone but.... no strong plain flour and no dried yeast! Guess everyone here has decided to make their own. -- Sue

Of which I have very little. Back to basics maybe - will I have to do it the old-fashioned way? Dad drove up the motorway yesterday - said everyone was doing 60! -- Sue
Guest guest
By the time I got to Sainsburys they had very little bread, no strong flour (and I used the last of ours last night) so I just bought plain. The pasta shelf was odd, all the own brand had gone (I got the last 2 packets we virtually live on pasta so I may have to get the pasta machine out of mothballs) but they had loads of Buttoni left! Everyone else seems to be boycotting Nestle! Guest guest
Had to go and get my breast pump out of the loft last night so that I could express some milk off to put on Jonty's weetabix this morning!! We all had toast, I did offer bmilk to the boys but they declined. !!! :-) Tupman Mum to Matt 13, 10, Jonty 1 & Phil 35 NCT National Houseswap Register Coordinator ---------------- LOL! I don't know, kids of today; they're so picky! In my day we had to eat what we were given and be thankful for it. \And we had one pair of shoes between ten of us so we had to take it in turns to go to school and then all we had to keep us warm in winter was a baked potato in our pockets while we picked up bits of coal from the gutters. Huh, youngsters these days don't know they're born. And as for the war......... Lesley
Guest guest
go on then, confess, who`s the first to queue up again for petrol.. and get some! Barbara www.petrolbusters.com reckon they have the info on where petrol is, within a chosen radius of your postcode (NB check the date of the info)
Guest guest
>go on then, confess, who`s the first to queue up again for petrol.. and get >some! Not me. Still got half a tank and still not really using the car. Definitely more traffic on the roads this morning although the M1 looked like a great place to be driving today when i went over it. -- Sue
Guest guest
Our village garage had unleaded petrol this morning and the queues were amazing. When I went out to pick up at 12.30 the queue was blocking our road. I had to get out of the car and ask a 'lady' to move her car so I could get through - she gave me a mouthful of abuse about queue barging etc and seemed to find it difficult to believe that I wasn't going to take her place, she said I should find another way out (of a cul de sac!). I refuse to queue for 1.5 hours for £10 worth of petrol though - by the time I got back from picking up (20 mins) the sign had gone up saying that they'd sold out so I reckon the woman who was so unpleasant didn't get any petrol anyway! Our doorstep pinta hasn't been at all affected but we're not great milk drinkers in this house anyway and I have dried skimmed that I use for breadmaking. -- Sue

Massive queues at a local garage yesterday - I drove smugly past with my still nearly full tank. I did notice the price they were charging though........unleaded 93.9p, lrp 94.9p, diesel 99.9p. Somebody is taking the p**s! Guest guest
Looks like the excitement is over, here. The BP garage has had two deliveries, one for emergency then open to all, and I saw a shell tanker in the town too. Safeway's were fully stocked with everything and my neighbour told me Sainsbury's is groaning under the weight of stock on their shelves!!! And following up my claim to fame re Malcolm Brinded (Shell Chief Honcho)DH told me last night we were invited to a joint Silver wedding anniversary bash with the Brindeds but he turned it down cos he was away!!!!!! Don't suppose I would have gone but even so........And apparently Malcolm and Carol were in London this week to celebrate their 25th with family and friends and instead he kept getting called to Downing Street to be spanked on the botty by Our Leader. Lesley ----------------- said....Well all our local stations have petrol but only for emergency services.
