Anybody got good recommendations for where to buy cheapish, current discs? My DH has also just bought a DVD player (Wharfdale 750 all regions - 180 pounds from Tescos) He doesn't really know of anywhere to buy " cheapish " discs from though. However, for your average 15 to 20 pounds you sure get value for money. He came home with TARZAN and DS loves it to bits. You can just select the songs and Phil is brill. There is a trivia quiz on the film, the making of the film the actual music videos and more. I didn't really want him to get it but I have to agree it is a good buy. You can play ordinary music CDs on it too. the converted
Guest guest
Have you had it 'chipped' or is it region one specific? I wrote: > > > DH bought a DVD player at the weekend. Guest guest
If you have an all regions machine you can buy from US web sites - there is a chance that you will get hit for VAT when the parcels come into the UK, but we have had 6 parcels so far and only had to pay duty once. Apart from that, we buy DVDs when we are in America mainly - they are cheaper and the range of titles available is huge in comparison to the UK, another good place is MVC - if you fill out a form they give you a card which gives you a small discount. Also keep your eyes open for 'buy 2 get 1 free' type deals that places such as HMV, Virgin, Our Price have from time to time. (who wishes this topic hadn't come up as she told DH she'd catalogue our DVD and video collection for the insurance company who refuse to believe we have so many, they also don't want us being burgled and claiming for x DVDs then going and buying new stuff... ho hum, at least we'll have a complete list to take with us when we go shopping rather than trying to remember in what we've got at home) The 's wrote: > > > My DH has also just bought a DVD player (Wharfdale 750 all regions - 180 > pounds from Tescos) > He doesn't really know of anywhere to buy " cheapish " discs from though. > However, for your average 15 to 20 pounds you sure get value for money. Guest guest
Supposed to be multi region - will be mighty miffed if it isn't! > > Have you had it 'chipped' or is it region one specific? > > > > > > > DH bought a DVD player at the weekend. Lots of 'men's' mags will tell you of fixes for this e.g. Stuff, which is one of my faves for finding out about new gadgets. Shame most newsagents take exception to the title and place it on the top shelf! Often it's just a case of switching it off and pressing a sequence of keys on the remote e.g. 111. Or so I'm told! -- Sue
