I read everyone's lists. How exciting! I can't say that I am that

adventurous. I've lived in Texas (when I was young) and loved it

there. We lived in Pasadena. My sister later moved near Austin and

I visited her there, which was also very nice. But, otherwise, I

have always lived in the country. I am a farm-girl. I love the

land, the animals, the work involved in all of it, and my favorite

place to be is on my front porch (in good old West Virginia)! Our

views are spectacular. I don't consider Ohio my home, even though I

was raised here too.

But the places I dream of visiting include:

Florida - anywhere near a beach

California - anywhere near a beach

Alaska - to see the sites

Alabama - to see my family

New York City on New Year's Eve

Cape May, NJ - at the beach

Hawaii - anywhere (cuz there's beaches everywhere!)

Outer Banks, NC - the beaches again

Georgia - Tybee Island and the beach

And, I would like to hop on that bus that is touring the world to see

all of the air family from this board.

Of course, if I could cross the ponds, Australia would be on the top

of my list, then Brazil - and the beaches! Did I mention I love the

beach?

God Bless,

Tina

Do you like beaches? Did you just toss in Alaska to throw us off

track or did you mean the coast of Alaska? New York yes. On New

Year's Eve, I stayed right in my apartment and watched on TV. I

thought the crowd looked scary on TV until I just saw it starting to

gather in real.

Now you're getting RISKY BWBB or should I say RISQUE!

You'll have to translate where some of these places are for me in the US of A:

1. Appalachian mountains

2. Wild Oregon Coastline

3. New England 'somewhere' (where its 'classic')

4. Does Alaska count 'cos of course I'd want to go there & visit AJ & see whales, Polar Bears for real etc etc

5. Wherever is central enough for ALL of us to get together!

in Oz

Translation for

1. Mountain range near the east coast and depending on definition

technically runs from Alabama (way south) all the way up to Canada.

Probably most associated with North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia,

West Virginia. Everything associated with them from Hillbillies and

backwoods to the most stunning scenery including highest range east

of the Mississippi River.

2. Oregon is also extremely beautiful, partly due to so much rain.

The coastline is not as developed and let so much more natural than

the California coastline south of Oregon.

3. New England is that group of states in the far Northeast. Maine,

New Hampshire, Vermont, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island.

Some large cities like Boston and Providence and Connecticut is now

pretty much a New York suburb, but a special nature to most of it,

very old area for the US, and lots of beautiful scenery as well with

mountains and heavy woods.

4. Alaska counts as you don't have to cross water, just cut through

Canada.

5. Central. Technically the geographic center of the contiguous 48

states (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) is near Lebanon, KS. So, cities

like Kansas City and St. Louis would be relatively centered. (If you

throw in Alaska and Hawaii its way north and near Rugby, North

Dakota). Based on accessibility, especially if by Air, the most

commonly chosen Central Points are Chicago and Dallas, Chicago to the

north of Center and Dallas to the South. I know it wouldn't be

traveling for Leanne, but actually with a gathering this time in San

(274 miles south of Dallas), Chicago might not be a bad

choice in the future. If most people were driving, St. Louis would

also be ok. (Airwise, St. Louis would generally require an extra

connecting flight). I can't wait to actually put together some sort

of map with all of us located. We could also plan ahead a couple of

events and have one on the East Coast and one on the West Coast. That

would preclude most people from attending both but would allow almost

everyone to attend one. Memphis, not exciting except for home of

Elvis, and Nashville, home of country music, are both worth

considering but Chattanooga has been done in that area. Las Vegas is

exciting but not non-smoking friendly. New York City is incredible,

but outrageously expensive. So, my personal leaning would be Chicago

or two, one on West coast and one on East. But, I'm coming wherever

it is so doesn't much matter to me.

Wasn't on her requested translations. But, do understand I lived on

the Tennessee River in Chattanooga, only minutes from you, and the

view of the river at my doorstep and mountains all around me. What a

beautiful area.

Oh, if talking about Appalachian, the NW Georgia mountains are, of

course, part of that whole string.

There are so many varied and beautiful areas within this country, all

with their special charms and more attractive to one of us than

others. I've lived in several areas of NC, in Chattanooga, in

Mississippi, in New York City, in South Florida and in Dallas/Fort

Worth. Except for the delta of Mississippi which I couldn't describe

as a tourist site, I could show one endless enjoyable activities and

places in any of them, all quite different.

Disneyworld keeps coming up....do I see a group outing there sometime

in the future.

It's very friendly to us as I did a lot of checking preparing for the

March trip there I was going to make before the spring break news. At

the entrance to each park you get a pass that allows you to bypass

all lines.

Also, the value resort hotels are quite nice or some incredible deals

on condos nearby.

And, if you feel the need for a scooter, Disneyworld themselves have

limited quantities but there is an entire industry around there in

supplying them on daily or weekly basis.
