So sorry to hear it's gone bottoms up for you at this late stage !

I really hope baby turns and you have a wonderful homebirth ! They

can turn right at the last minute, so I've heard, and I know of

women to whom this has happened at the onset of labour. Try getting

DH to tell baby very sternly to turn again - this has been known to

work !

Oh, found these, but prolly not much help:

Best Wishes, Helen, you are in good hands - will be thinking of you all - I

went to a presentation Andrya did for Cronk (who was guess what, unable

to come cos she was delivering a baby!) at the Homebirth Study day in

Chichester last year.

I had a fantastic lunch today with a midwife I met through UKMidwifery.

Actually, I could have spent all afternoon and evening with her, I

enjoyed her company so much. If I ever get pregnant again I would like

her to be there - how's that for hitting it off?!

She was telling me how she is sometimes told that she is lucky she gets

all the women with easy deliveries. I suspect(!) she is just a great

midwife.

It sounds as though you will have fantastic support Helen and that all

will go well. I look forward to hearing what an amazing experience you

have.

The physiotherapist I know told me that increasingly there are breech

births these days because women generally (not you I mean) tend to spend

more time recumbent such as watching TV. She suggested doing things on

hands and knees eg weediing, scrubbing the kitchen floor as the weight of

the baby's head will tend to make him want to turn the right way round.

Thought this was more likely to cause posterior than breech?

Ooops - that isn't quite what I meant!

little wotsit!!

I am still going to try for a home

sound like you are in good hands...i had a few chats with Andrya when i was

getting grief from the hospital about my " big " (!!) baby, and my friend had

just lost her daughter at 36 weeks. She was really helpful, especially since

there was only about 1% chance of us actually employing her at that time.

I'm not sure if she comes this far south but i'd be calling her again

" if....... " !!! ( I chnage my mind daily about Nuttkin3....)

Will be thinking of you Helen,

hope it goes really well!

I agree with Barbara and I hope it goes as you wish. I heard speak at

the homebirth day in Chichester 2 years ago and what stuck in my mind was

her saying that as long as the baby was vertical there was no reason why it

shouldn't be born vaginally whichever part of it was presenting. You are in

very good hands, and they're not going to say " oh she's one of those mad NCT

types " either.

Hope it all goes well, Helen. For your sake I hope for a turn, but it

would be something to show that a home breech VBAC can go well.

I was interested that when there was a suspicion of a breech in my

second pregnancy (plenty early enough to await natural turning) the

midwife just asked me how I would feel about a home birth if the baby

stayed breech, instead of the usual weighing in with " Oh well, this

changes everything "

This is the same theory as why there are more posterior presentation babies.

My last was OP so I've been doing everything recommended for optimum foetal

positioning anyway as this was my biggest worry - no one seems to have

informed the baby of this though!

Thanks Angi, but I think Andrya is nearer you than me as she lives in

Hampshire near sfield. It takes her about 1 hour to get to me from home

and she travels up as far as London to see clients. So if Nuttkin 3 came

along I'm sure she'd love to hear from you!

After being upside down for 1/2h last night and then lots of talking to and

stroking the bump there was a large amount of activity down there but of

course I don't know if it was enough or not or what position it's in now! I

went and had my accupuncture this morning which was interesting and I'm sure

DH will laugh when I ask him to put a burning moxa stick next to my little

toe for 5 mins this evening! But hey, I'll try anything :-)

I had loads of moxa some years back - usually my toes but once they

filled my navel with salt and did it there. The therapist would

always say to tell her when it started to hurt, but she always seemed

to whip it off before, couldn't quite believe I wasn't feeling pain

yet.

I was also needled in some pretty fun places like my gums and my perineum!

5 days before I was due to go for my CS preop with DD2 (transverse lie!) I

had a pedicure. My therapist also did reflexology and manipulated my little

toe as that is supposed to help. Lo and behold, by the time I got to preop

she was in the right position and CS cancelled!

As you say, anythings worth a try!!
