You've really been through the mill , both with your diagnosis and your treatment. Very few men have such advanced disease at age 50. Most men also have an easier time with the surgery. I'm guessing that your surgeon did a lot of rooting around in there to find any bits of cancer nearby that he could, and that's why your recovery was so difficult. A good place to find out what radiation is like for patients is at the following website: http://www.yananow.net/Experiences.html It's a very useful site created by Terry Herbert, one of the moderators of this group, and has much more information besides what is available on that page. When you get to the page, search for " RADIATION - EBRT " . You'll see dozens of lines there, each one with a clickable name that will lead you to that person's personal report of his experience. Your doctors are being very aggressive in your treatment. In your case, that seems to me to be absolutely necessary. With a PSA of 51 and Gleason 8, you have a very aggressive disease. Let us know how your first PSA test turns out. Best of luck to you. Alan
Guest guest
Alan, Thanks for the email. Actually, I neglected to include in my post that I went ahead and got my first PSA: 0.4! VERY good news, as it's not only low, but it's decreasing. Thanks tons for the link, I'm going to check it out now! Yours, - J. > > ... > > My Big Question now: I'm slated for radiation therapy in April > > for 2 solid months.
