I have had this pain only one other time before. It's on the left side and extends to the back. It hurts to breathe, lie down, and sit up. No type of pain meds make it better. I've been taking Darvon, it does relax me though. GOOD LUCK WITH SURGERY! MARIE >> Marie, you are saying this is not your normal pain right? This pain is a pain that is so bad that as you said you cannot breath properly. If you move the pain is so bad that you feel like screaming is that right? I have had that pain six different times. Being in the car going to the hospital was the most terrible ride of my life. If my husband hit a tiny bump in the road I would scream out. I couldn't control my screaming. When I arrived at the ER I had my amalase and lipaze taken and they were normal. When I had a CT scan it showed that my left lung had fibrous tissue in it. I have no proof but it felt as though something broke loose from my pancreas and went all thru my chest and back on the left side. I often wondered if it was a cyst that burst. When I was 27 I had cyst on my ovaries and one of the cyst burst it spread through out my belly. That pain was the same as the pain I have gotten on my left side. I believe that very few chronic pancreatitis sufferers have gotten this pain. If what I described to you is what you are feeling then please know that I have sympathy for you. That pain is so bad. It would take days to feel better. If it is what I have experienced it should feel a little better every day that passes. I am always scared that I will get that horrible, horrible pain again. Let me know how you are doing. Shirley

Sorry for your condition, and I can only hope you can feel a little better soon Poncho

I had that same pain 5 or 6 different times. I like to forget that pain and how many times I have had it. It is worse than a panc. attack. One cannot breath properly. If you take a breath it has to be very shallow. No deep breathing, no jarring, no quick movements. Every movement has to be done very carefully. It is so scary. No one in the medical field knows what we are talking about. I believe it is doing damage to our lungs. Especially the left lung. As I said before my left lung is now fibrous and I truly believe that is the result of what happens to the pancreas that causes all that extreme pain. Those of you that have never experienced this pain count yourselves very lucky. I hope that you feel better very soon. Just take it day by day.
