Guest guest
Seth is doing the exact same thing. We visited the docs today and they did an x ray on his lungs and they want to see him back first thing in the am.They think he may be working on pneaumonia.[sp] I'll know more tomarrow. His ears and throat are all infected, and of coarse the green stuff. I on the other hand have to have a scope done in a couple of weeks to see if I have Endometriosis! That's all from me for now.I'll let you all know about Seth. Guest guest
Dear Vicki, Dealing with toddlers, especially when they are sick is challenging. Awaking from sleep has been a definite clue of illness with both of my children. Both are restless sleepers, and will wake up crying, as if in pain, when not feeling well.. This is one of those things where as a Mom you learn to read your child's cues in a way no one else can. For example, I have learned that if complains of stomach pain in a big way, and then briefly mentions that her throat hurts, that this means she has strep throat. Of the 5 or 6 times she has had it, that was the scenario every time. I even took her to the ER once thinking she had appendicitis, but no it was strep throat. Go with your Mommy instincts. Guest guest
Hi Vicki, Jordi (nocf) is also two yo. He just came down with a virus today but the nite before, he does the waking up thing except instead of crying, he gets all wired and happy, and is awake for 2 to 3 hours. He only gets cranky when I go in and try to settle him, but then won't get him up to play. Fortunately, he hasn't figured out how to jump out of his crib yet, and damned if I'm going to ever put him into a bed. This has been his pattern, even for teething. It's really hard to figure out what's goin on, and I have yet been able to make the decision to give a seemingly happy kid something like Tempra when I can never figure out what's up. It's bizarre - he'll probably be the kid that laughs hysterically at funerals - great, every fam needs one! Hope your little one is doing okay. Did you get any feedback from your Aunt re: your letter? Take care, Mo, mom of 4yo twins, and andra, and 2yo, Jordan, sleeping happily tonite in a Dimetapp induced haze - yes! Guest guest
Hi Vicki, Both my girls have always had increased night waking as one of the early signs that they're getting sick. It decreased after the tonsils and adenoids came out last year (seems a lot of it was increased sleep apnea when everything swelled up with colds). Now they wake up either because of stuffy noses or because of asthma. Oh, they seem to have more nightmares when they've got colds, too. But with mine, usually shrill crying in the middle of the night means they're having trouble breathing. Especially with Meagan (wcf), the general rule has been if she wakes up crying, she ends up needing a neb. Good luck, and I hope this ends up being a mild cold for your family. There are some nasty colds floating around WI at the moment (we've got at least three of them in my family, concurrent with both kids having sinus infections). Hang in there. , mom of Meagan & Kailin

Thanks for your time. > Bye 4 Now > Vicki (mom of 2 both w/cf) > Hi Vicki: Sonsoles (10 months wcf) obviously cannot tell us if she's feeling OK, but in our short experience with CF, the signs of a potential respiratory sickness " always " have been: - Eating refusal (she uses to eat pretty well). - More wake-ups at night (she uses to sleep the whole night). - She also feels more sleepy and irritable. These signs always have arrived BEFORE the real problem (and always have led us to pay more attention to coughing and other respiratory signs), if we see differences in her cough, or she develops low grade fever or anything else, we use to call the CF-Unit to ask for advice. One child is different from another, you know your daughter better than anybody else, so you can tell better if she is doing well or not. If you see differences in her usual baseline, maybe it's because something is happening, only time can tell you if it's something you can fix at home or you're going to need the professionals. Anyway, if you think something's happening, don't hesitate to ask your doctors. Our common sense has always led us in the right way, and I'm sure that yours will also help you a lot. Bye. o (the always " alert " dad of Sonsoles, 10 months, CF). mailto:rrm06@...
Guest guest
Hi Mandy, good luck with Seth-- I hope it's not pneumonia, and that they've caught it soon enough to head this off before he gets any sicker. Also, I hope your test goes well and that you don't have endemetriosis.
Guest guest
Hi Mandy, I'm way behind on my posts, but wanted to know the update on Seth. I am hoping and praying that he sails through this and doesn't end up with pneumonia. I am also concerned for you - you must be in lots of pain if they are suspecting endometriosis. Hang tight - I'll be holding good thoughts for you.
